stainless steel exhaust welding in RI?
Re: stainless steel exhaust welding in RI?
I think I'ma just run pump gas in it. Upon reflection I'd greatly prefer failing emissions again than to risk damaging anything with funny stuff in the gas tank

Maybe a tank of compressed hydrogen in the back seat? Liquid hydrogen would be even more cool because you'd have that fog spilling out when you rolled the windows down. Liquid oxygen is just too dangerous... These things probably wouldn't hurt the fuel system.
Adding some more methanol would probably help, the thing to do would be to have a low tank and then fill it right after the test with normal fuel. Rinse and repeat. The Indy folks pickle their fuel systems with normal gas every time they shut down for the day. At least they used to.
That's a big change you need though. I vote for the liquid hydrogen...

I don't think I'm going to have time to get the LH2 tank designed, built and installed and requisite mods completed before I have to get it retested (prior to next Monday).
Would be nice, though... 2 H2 + O2 = 2 H2O
Bill at DentSport TIG-welded in two 3" cats before the Y today. Better for flow and for emissions Will it be enough is the question...

Ran the emissions test again on Saturday. Previously, it had failed on HC emissions by blowing 15.75 grams/mile vs. 2.25 gmp limit, over by a factor of 7x. Tested again on Sat. and blew, get this, 2.26. Missed it by that much! They ran it again with a strategic vac line removed, and I got my sticker
Thanks to Bill and Matt at DentSport for TIG-welding the cats in and tunage!

Very cool! Much easier than converting to Dilithium crystal power..

Good news! I think my suggestions were impractical. If they are burning that much fuel, you might want to keep an eye on them until you figure out how hot they get. I've seen converters glow red hot on a motor that wasn't running right. Mind you I wasn't looking for that, it was just like "what is that red light under my friends car"!
