Rallye4 harness on a mustang gt 2008

Post by tang-o » Sun Mar 11, 2012 2:22 pm

Is anybody running a Rallye4 harness on a mustang gt 2005-2009? I was able to find some information online and a few pictures but I was still not sure of what the angle of the belts are between the driver seat and the stock anchor points in the rear seat.

Am I better off just with stock seat belt / seats?
Any other recommendations for harnesses without requiring rollbars, etc?

Thanks!

If you want to use 4,5,6,or 7 point harnesses you should also use a roll bar or roll cage. If your car were to roll, the harnesses would hold your upper body upright which you don't want to have happen when the roof collapses. Broken necks are no fun. No roll bar, stick with the stock belts.

Good add, Dan!

When the Miata rolled and the windshield collapsed, I was certainly held vertical by the harnesses, and the only thing I feel that kept me from breaking my neck was the HANS. It took the compression load of the roof coming down 2" to the rollbar and distributed it onto my shoulder blades.

Btw, believe in the 2" rule.

Thanks Dan!
That makes perfect sense. I've always run roll cages (rally events) and One Lap of America. This is the first time i will run track days without a roll cage so I'm still hesitant about the way to go. I will drive 6/10s probably just because of that.
I will stick to stock seat belts and probably a CG Lock to stay planted on the seat (NOT as a safety measure).

Thanks again for all your information Dan.
Cheers!
