Car Trailer Camping?

I am trying to decide between a open car trailer and an enclosed one.

One thing I wondered, during event weekends, do folks ever camp out/sleep in their enclosed car trailers? Obviously the car would be parked out side....

I slept in my 20' enclosed trailer at Mosport a few years ago...about froze my ass off! I've since move "up" to a slide in truck camper,but plenty of guys/gals sleep in their trailers. An enclosed may take a bit more to pull,but the added security and overall convenience make it a no-brainer for me..

Moved up to my delux accomidations two years ago, enclosed trailer ..... some are a bit more spoiled than others (heat, showers, kitchen's, etc.), but an air mattress & good sleeping bag will work, prepare for the occasion and all will be fine .... certainly beats the back seat of the truck I used to sleep in ....

I am expecting the biggest problem to be ventilation on hot summer nights. At private events at places where I feel safe I might be ok leaving the door (even the back) open. But at public events that might not be safe (unless a friend is camping right near by). I might wish for more security. A solution might be to install a pop open window at the top of the door. I don't know yet how I will solve it.

I am expecting to be hot and sticky but if I shower at the end of the day to remove sticky salt and sweat I might be fine on hot sticky nights.

I use to prop open the ramp back door a few inches,and a fan inside did wonders. I thought about adding an a/c unit to my camper when I first bought it,but can honestly say,have not ever missed it. I could not live without my heater,though...

Years ago when I bought my 16 foot enclosed trailer I had screened side windows and screened roof vent put in. If you buy a used box trailer it is not to difficult to put these windows in or have a trailer place do it.

You can borrow my dog if you require it. No one will get near the trailer at night. Just have some dog food on hand, and a bag of Doritos...she loves those.

I splurged and put an A/C unit in my trailer. Works fine IF you have electric LOL. Honestly, though I never needed it for sleeping at night. Mark S snores enough to move the air around!

Troy, it that a Terve or is it a long haired shephard? Lost my Terve a few years back. What a great dog he was!

I rough it all the time and sleep in my trailer at every event. I usually arrive at the track the night before so I don't have to get up in the middle of the night and drive for hours before driving on the track. Bruce has a good idea with the roof vents and side windows. I don't have AC and can only remember one night where I wish I had it. The trailer cools down quick at night with the roof vents open. Once while at Lime Rock, the temp at night went to 17 degrees but I was warm and toasty with my trailer's propane furnace.
