Mazda 5 Info

Post by jimmacsrx7 » Sun Nov 20, 2011 9:03 pm

Hi all, anyone have any info on the Mazda 5?. My wife is looking at a new vehicle and she likes the 5. Specifically ,how does it do in the snow? after last winter it is a concern for her. any info would be appreciated. Thanks,

I don't have personal experience with it, though I wish it had been around when my family went through our minivan phase. But the platform is the same as the Mazda3, and they share many parts. The Mazda5 is longer by a few inches, and a bit taller, but otherwise they are nearly the same car and I expect they behave similarly in the snow.

the mazda 5 is a ok car (car ?? ) if you install snows on all 4's it's not bad in the snow . it is a little light so i will tend to not have the weight to get good traction in real deep snow . you could look at the CX7 or 9 they are also very good cars . the cx7 is a smaller car and it is still offered with the FWD .
the mazda 3 and 5 do not shire the same platforms the jigs to set the cars up on a frame bench are not the same for the two chasses . they do shire some of the same bolt on parts but thats it .

I'm not surprised that the jigs are different, since they're slightly different sizes, but they still both use the Ford C1 platform: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_C1_platform

you must be right about the chasses . the jigs for the volvo , ford and mazda 3 are the same and setup on the frame bence in the same places . there is only one jig that is the same for all the cars and the mazda 5 too . thats the one were the rear bolts are for the front cross member . in my book for the celette bench it states the wheel base for the 3 is 2640MM . the mazda 5's have 2670MM for the 1st gen cars and 2750 for the later cars .
