NHMS4 Videos and Pictures
Re: NHMS4 Videos and Pictures
Nope, and I hate myself for it.
I have a small collection of cameras, yet I have very little video to show for them. Seems I'm always busy with something and I don't think about the video stuff until I'm getting into the car.
I need to pick out a nice permanent mounting location inside of the car and just leave the camera in there.
....Ahhhh....next season!

I especially like how in Turn 3 your apex is right up against the cone, right over the rumble strips. I have a hard time getting some students to do that. Also shows pretty early on the gas (good).

Awesome view! 111 on the front straight is smokin, and 43 thru turn 3 shows how agile your car is, not just all muscle. I guess the roof is working

Our 80 cc shifter karts do 55 through turn 3. Top speed of 80 on the straight. Flat through 1 (chicane config).Grippy wrote:43 thru turn 3 shows how agile your car i
It's all relative.

I would love to try a shifter kart at NHMS.
WIll, how much power does your car make and about how much does it weigh?

^ I'm going to guess: 175whp and 2250lbs. (fuel,no driver)
There is a lot more to a car and drivers performance than just numbers, however. A LOT..

Weight is 2400 with driver and a full tank (11 gallons). Kind of depressing, weight-wise. I was hoping to be about 100-150 pounds lighter. Oil coolers, accusump, and 40 pound battery sure don't help!
Engine puts out rather linear power, with peak hp at redline, 8500 RPM. Average engine speed in a lap at NHMS is 6000, which is pretty much the sustained RPMs maintained in the oval, which translates to ~160hp. Very different hp and torque profile than you'd find on a typical boosted or higher displacement motor. This is why I really appreciate receiving early point-bys.

I was pretty close on those figures. That is great HP numbers for a NA 4cyl! ! I gave you a point by and got blacked flagged for it. Seems my arm came out too far...

Will, wow, 2400 lbs. I had to ballast my FP miata with about 120 lbs of lead. I go across the scales at the end of a race with 2 gallons. I weigh in around 255 lbs and the car, me, gas and ballast are around 2190. Did you fill your frame with cement? Now I have a 1.6 but my tranny is an iron case Quaife and its not light like the Miata tranny. Thats probably a wash weight wise. Must be that roof.

Tom, are you saying that there's been ulterior motives behind those delicious batches of brownies? What's next, passing them around before the time trial?!tommac wrote:Hey Will, JENNY CRAIG!
Chris - In my 1.6 ITA Miata, I had to add 80 pounds of ballast to get the car to 2380, so I know what you mean. I suppose I could take the roof off and cut out the windshield header and windshield like your FP/EP car, but then the chances of rain at every COM event would sky rocket.
My car could probably lose a couple of hundred pounds worth of gauges and wire.

I know. Your car's gage cluster looks like the slots parlor at Mohegan.WillM wrote:My car could probably lose a couple of hundred pounds worth of gauges and wire.
