Door bars in SP with a composite door
Cars using composite doors must have tubing of the same size and thickness as the roll bar/roll cage, running from shoulder height (while seated) forward to at least 85% of the door opening.

Cars using composite doors must have tubing of the same size and thickness as the roll bar/roll cage, starting at shoulder height (while seated) and running forward and downward to at least 85% of the door opening.
How do you require a door bar attached to a cage in a class that does not require a cage?
Will cars that have composite doors from the factory (Lotus, Corvette, etc) be required to run a cage with a door bar if they decide to run in SP rather than ST or SS?

Good points, Pete!
Maybe the answer is to say that if you have composite doors (and/or what else, you may ask?), a roll bar is also required.
Yow! That problem already exists, with the current wording. This could get gnarly.eastcoastbumps wrote:How do you require a door bar attached to a cage in a class that does not require a cage?

Obviously not. I need to reword it to specify an aftermarket door.eastcoastbumps wrote:Will cars that have composite doors from the factory (Lotus, Corvette, etc) be required to run a cage with a door bar if they decide to run in SP rather than ST or SS?

Re: Door bars in SP with a composite door
Maybe we should only allow doors that are made out of the same material as the original doors in SS, ST and SP.

You took the words right out of my mouth Dan. The slopes are too damned slippery!DanDarcy wrote:Maybe we should only allow doors that are made out of the same material as the original doors in SS, ST and SP.

I think Street Prepared cars should all be required to have power door locks, AC, bluetooth, sat nav, backup cameras, and power windows like my car.
Or maybe just a license tag and registration so STREET means STREET.

Of course it also states kit cars belong in prepared, or SP if so equiped.
I have door bars in my cobra, but they are only 3/4" square tube.
