Carls flame thrower at the Glen
Following the green Porsche into turn one,and out the tailpipes erupt 3-4 feet of bright yellow twirling flames..for a good 5 seconds. I can't get the image out of my mind...Bond..James Bond... (yes,I know 007 drove an Austin Martin DB5...) Anyone get any video of it?

I saw similar flames coming out of an EVO.

Never let an inexperienced "tuner" (me) try to install and configure an aftermarket engine management system.
Symptoms are: bucking and surging performance, poor fuel mileage, and overheating. And in addition, apparently now flames shooting out the back. I guess that helps explain the poor fuel mileage. Truthfully, I'm lucky it even starts and runs! Thanks for noticing.
Yeah, I'd love to see those flames on video!

Re: Carls flame thrower at the Glen
My Miata use to throw flames (so I had been told..) but nothing as elegant as the ones from your Porsche. I shut off "fuel on decel" (it was an option,on or off) within the Hydra engine management system and the flames have disappeared.Luckily,my "brain" came preprogrammed,so all I had to do was tweak it here and there.I know just enough to be dangerous..

During the Time Trials the corner workers were so concerned about the 913B and the flames they considered black flagging Carl.

So Carl, for next year will you have a hot-blown diffuser?

Thanks for the suggestion, but that's the equivalent of tagging out! I can't do that! Stubborn old engineers don't admit defeat.

13Bee real slow !
Re: Carls flame thrower at the Glen
Yup, 13B from an RX8, but it runs like an RX 5/8
It is a bit disappointing at the moment, but hey, it's significantly faster and more reliable than when that POS type IV vw motor was in it.

I see..that explains the 913B designation! It certainly wasn't "slow" when I was behind it..
