Liz Baker and Racheal Daniels ran a stupendous crew effort in the blazing heat.
We did have to drop the gas tank 10 minutes before the race started and lost 2 hours drive time whaile all the idoits were crashing themselves and black flagging. We endured a few BS black flags, two that we earned, and were hit hard twice - one puncture through the passenger door, and one holed the passenger tire and bent the rim causing an off for us.
FTD on our team was Matt LeBlanc at 32.872, Baker at 33.376, Nic at 33.5, Jon Cowen at 33.672, with COM-ers Noah Daniels and Evan Weider filling in the rest of the drivers. At the end of the race, we placed 10th in class running a car in LIMP mode with a max. 3000rpm. Had we full power, we would have been competitive for 5th or better.
There is no doubt that the fastest, safest and most trustworthy drivers are involved in COM. Unfortunately, Dave Geurtin in the Volvo was crashed hard into the wall and went home pretty sore. I hear he is fine. The Volvo looks VERY rough, and will need some help even to be awarded an Index of Effluency in its current state.
There was also a heat-related crash late on Saturday, where a driver passed out and hit the wall pretty hard. We went RED for 20 minutes, and she was taken to the hospital. She turned up the next day with a clean bill of health.
Belive it or not, an Italian car won....
