Man, his right foot is busy.

Great video..with wonderful audio! Is that a V8 in the car? Wow.

Re: It's okay to dream.
Les, my thought exactly. Seems like left foot braking is very much in order.

props for the save, two smacks for pulling back onto the track like that
Re: It's okay to dream.
Awesome car, but..
Is it just me (now an official old fart at 50) or is paddle shifting with your right foot floored simply, um, a bit boring?
If it wasn't for the amazing sound, I would have bailed within one minute into the in-car footage.
Yeah, I know, using an electric starter is cheating too, right? How much technology is the "correct" amount?

Re: It's okay to dream.
The discussion on how much technology is too much is a hot subject today. Where do you draw the line? Some feel fuel injection and electronic ignitions are modern day crutches...while others insist that any gizmo that does what a driver use to do is too much. ABS brakes, traction control, stability control, paddle shifters, torque vectoring drivelines.. all handle chores that were once done by the operator.
However, these gizmos have made cars faster on track,as a whole.
Is this not better? I guess it depends on your point of view.
I personally would not call paddle shift cars boring..and I admire all the gizmos available today..but I feel much of the sensation of driving a car becomes lost when something else has control.
I much prefer simplicity by design..and driver control as the sole ingredient to car control, for better or worse...
Drag racing has classes that specifically ban electronics. Many of the fastest drag cars today electronically run the throttle and shift, while all the "driver" does is launch and steer!
Motorcycles are also becoming technological wonders...for better..or worse..

Technology
As an old fart i like the feel of the machine. Hell, My Lotary 7 does not have power brakes or steering (but does have Fuel injection and a dash-programmable computer). But last year at NJMP when I drove student Donald Piette's dealer stock GTR I was awe struck with what technology did in shifting, car control and braking! Every other car needs to catch up. Hell, there were times when I took a nap and the car still turned fast laps!

It's a good debate. I think that some cars are so fast that they would be impossible to drive without such aids. Without traction control that Judd powered car would be a real handful.

It is the same thing with today's fighter jets. Some of them cannot be flown by traditional stick, throttle, and pedal inputs without some serious computer control behind the effort........and that is just to stay in the air.
