Some of the past and old-time COM members may remember Stan from the ice time trials the club held on Newfound Lake back in the early 80's and before. Here is the notice sent out by his family.

Boston Chapter Ice Racing Bulletin for April 13, 2011
As much as I regret to inform you all when Ice Racing is over at the conclusion of each season, this is the hardest thing I will ever have to tell you. On Friday, April 8th, 2011 at 12:55pm, our Dad, the “Iceman,” the Boston Chapter BMW CCA Ice Racing Chairman, passed away at 79 years old. Many of you know how strong and healthy he was, so you will understand how completely unexpected and shocking this loss was to us. We will all miss his extensive snowplowing efforts and the great Ice Racing courses he designed and set up for us all.
The first sign that anything could even conceivably be wrong came on Friday, March 18th, when he passed out while snowshoeing out a trail on one of his properties. On Monday, March 28th, Stanley Jackson Sr. underwent emergency heart surgery to perform a single bypass, after suffering cardiac arrest twice in the hospital. On Tuesday we were given little hope – but by Wednesday he had started to fight back – and by Thursday it appeared that things might really be turning around. However, he remained unconscious on full life and heart support for over ten days. His mind and body fought incredibly hard, but the damage that had occurred to his heart and the detrimental complications to the body as a result of the heart and life support machines were just too much even for the Iceman – on April 8th he passed peacefully with family at each side – yesterday he was laid to rest. He had so much left to live for, but he had also lived for so much.
We ask that you all share this sad news with everyone that knew our father. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, May 7th at the Union Congregational Church in Hebron, N.H., and absolutely everyone is welcome to attend: http://www.hebronchurchnh.org. As some of you know, our Dad was not a morning person, so the service will begin at 11:30am. We expect it to last about an hour; after which, light refreshments will be served in the church, thanks to the Hebron Area Women’s Group. And while the ice on Newfound Lake will almost certainly be gone by then, and we won’t head for pizza, we will move on to Foster’s Boiler Room in Plymouth for drinks and meals for those so inclined: http://www.thecman.com/restaurants/fosters-boiler-room.
In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Stanley “Iceman” Jackson would be appreciated to any of the following organizations:
