Format of July Event at NHMS
Format of July Event at NHMS
As this is a three-day event, can I assume that we'll have two days of practice followed by the TT on D3?

Cy -- come on Friday , the first day, That should be the least attended and give you the most driving time.

I guess I'll never understand the attraction of open track time. It seems so...unfocused. And so many opportunities to break something

Re: Format of July Event at NHMS
Dan - I'll keep that in mind. Your buddy stopped by the store the other day and I sent him home with two sets of used RA1s. They should last him for several events, unless you're in the passenger seat egging him on I'll have another 2 sets ready to go by mid-summer if he needs more.

If they are in decent shape I would take a set of those used ones this summer.

Ditto. I might be able to rationalize Friday - Saturday of a holiday weekend (Like last year where the TT was Saturday). Don't think there's much chance of Sunday though so this one will probably be a missed event for me.CP wrote:Bummer.

Re: Format of July Event at NHMS
So how is the 2nd day handled for student run groups? Same format as day one with classroom time and track, or is day 2 more one on one track time with their instructor?Mick wrote:Correct, the confirmed format will be school, school, time trial.
Can students be signed off to solo after day 1?
I'm really excited about the additional day/seat time to be able to work on improving skills. - Paul G.

Day 2 is just like day 1.
Yes, students can get signed off to solo on day 2.

Re: Format of July Event at NHMS
Student drivers can attend day 1 or day 2 or both days, and students who are "signed off to solo" can also attend day 3. While in format day 2 may be just like day 1, in other respects day 2 is far different for those who attend both days.
Novice students who attend both days are hugely rewarded by having back-to-back training days. The 2nd day reinforces and cements the gains made on day 1. In my experience, back-to-back (or 3- 4- 5-day) programs are far superior than training sessions spaced weeks or months apart, especially for those just getting started. Most students will have the same instructor for both days which also helps to accelerate the learning process. Also, a novice is far more likely to be "signed off to solo" if attending both days.
To get the greatest gains I would encourage any student to invest in a 2-day program over two one-day events. There is nothing like "seat time" and back-to-back training days to accelerate your learning curve, and there is a good possibility you could be signed off to solo for Day 3.
