the prices are off the chart so i'm wondering if as a club we can do a group buy assuming there's other takers,

Re: tires for 2011 anyone
My cousin has picked up a couple sets from here:
http://www.jbracingtires.net/
The guy is super helpful - Dave was on the phone with him the other day looking into 325i tire options for this upcoming season...75% r-comps for ~$75 + $15 shipping/tire
...and I'm pretty sure Bert got some "new" rubber from here as well.

Re: tires for 2011 anyone
I think that's the guy I bought some used R888s from to finish out the 2009 season. He was a good guy to work with and if it is the same guy, he said he was a DJ as his main line of business or something. Shipped quickly, got exactly what I expected.
The Pirelli GrandAm scrubs I bought from a guy in CA off of corvetteforum.com. I still haven't run those yet -- maybe it will be warm enough at Mosport to use them in practice.
As soon as my Hoosier R6s expire, I'll be in the market for some cheater Hoosier A6s to stay ahead of Mario.

Re: tires clearinghouse ??
Maybe there is a place in the forum to set up a clearinghouse for tires? I have a bunch of new R-comps in 18 and 16 inch to sell and looking to buy some 275/285x18 R-comps. I usually post in the classifieds, but it would be nice to get all the tire inventory available now and see how many of us could get some rubber before the season starts.

Re: tires for 2011 anyone
Bert, actually is the other way around i'm buying the tires to TRY to keep up with you!
all kidding aside as you probably do i keep a set of old ones for practice & a newer set for race or TT the problem is that my practice tires are 3yrs old & corded as of my last sprint race in november & my race tires have about 25-30 heat cycles and are dated 7/2008 so they are a little hard by now, i'm thinking buying kuhmo v710 as they are $50ea. cheaper than the Hoosier R6

Mario,how bout some 335/35/17 V710's,new for 1/2 price... (1/2" taller,1" wider than the 315's)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-NEW-33 ... ccessories
I bought some 295's from the guy two weeks ago..and am very satisfied with the quality.

Re: tires for 2011 anyone
Too bad all you Corvette drivers use such wide tires. Just cleaned Tire Rack out of their supply (12) of closeout V710's for $79/tire. Be on the lookout for a painfully stock E36 325i co-driven with Nick F this season.
SSB here we come... See you all at Mosport.
FYI for anyone interested - BMWCCA is hosting one of their "club racing schools" at Mosport on the weekend before COM is there. If anyone has been considering getting into door-to-door, its an easy way to add 2 more track days without much additional logistics planning (travel/hotel/etc.). I think they even had an open track day available on Friday for those participating in the school. 5 days in a row at Mosport? Talk about cleaning up in the TT on Tuesday

Re: tires for 2011 anyone
i don't believe the 335's fit on a 11" wheel, i usually hang around the tire shop while mounting the 315's & that's a very tight fit, then theres the issue of the tire going past the fender lip, a no no with EMRA ST1 class
thanks Mark

I've organized a group buy (5% off and cheap truck freight) the last couple of years. If there's interest I'm happy to do it again.Mario Fallas wrote:am i the only one looking to buy tires ?

We've gone thru http://treadzone.com/ before.

Re: tires for 2011 anyone
Mario, according to Kumho, a 335/35/17 V710 is OK on an 11-13" rim. As far as fitting under the car...I understand.I thought you might have a 1/2" to play with, but maybe not. At 1/2 price over retail money,it was worth a shot! (the 295's fit the Focus fine... )

Re: tires for 2011 anyone
hell, you got me going alright, half price is tough to ignore, so i looked one more time & contacted the seller asking for date of manufacturing & right after i send the request i spotted on the bottom of the page manufactured 2007 granted that they're new but they're a year older than the ones i trying to replace, i'm thinking they are hard as rocks .......... still, 1/2price?
what do you guys think?

Re: tires for 2011 anyone
They haven't been heat cycled/run..and they have been properly warehouse/climate control stored, according to the guy selling them. Years ago,I contacted Kumho about buying V710 new-old-stock tires and they assured me,unless they had been stored in direct sunlight or in a warehouse that got over 120 degrees,or sub zero weather, not to worry. The 295's I bought recently were built in '06 and the "finger nail" test can't tell them from the fresh ones I bought,at twice the price!
I ran a set of new old stock 275's about 3 years ago (from tirerack) that were three years old when I bought them, and they performed well enough to earn 4 FTD's at A/X over two years of use,so take it for what it's worth.. Good tires are important...but saving lotsa money is too!
