I have a 2004 GMC 2500 Full crew cab (6.0 litre) and I have bought Bilsteins to put on this vehicle.
I am in constant debate with my father in law..who is an old time mechanic...knows his business...but does not stay abreast of new technology. He insist that I will see no improvements with ride or handling with any new shock that I buy. He believes that because it is a 3/4 ton truck..and suspension is so heavy duty...it really does not matter what brand of shock I put on this vehicle...the ride will never improve.

Your father in law is correct. I have an 03 Silverado 2500HD and I did the same thing when the truck was a year old. No change. Sorry.

Weird right? I'm suspicious too. I've been keeping an eye on this thread 1/2 expecting to see that user has come back to add a bunch of spam links to their signature.CalypsoBean wrote:was that some kind of super-elaborate spam post?

The ride on an older 3/4 ton truck will always suck. However the type of shock used most certainly DOES make a difference. I've used expensive Edelbrocks and cheaper (by more than half) Skyjacker Hydro shocks on mine (2003 Dodge) and I can feel the difference fo sho.
