Hi Guys:
Anyone knows what is going on with Thompson Speedway in CT?
There is some "noise" about resurecting the 2 mile road track

I am actually going to visit the track next week Wednesday (for an Alfa thing) and will inquire further but if you have news please send them thru!

Looks like that information was last updated in 2007

I went with our club (PCA NER) and talked to the owners a few months back, regarding autocross. These details are from my memory and may not be too accurate.
They are looking to expand, but it may take a long time. They need money, which means they need people to race, etc. They are trying to fix their lot well enough so it can be used effectively for autocross, which will generate some revenue. They are also talking about other ways to expand their business.
Their overall goal was to eventually expand back to a similar set up to their old 4 mile track. The guy described that they would do this phase by phase. They would start with a small track configuration then expand to a larger one year after year. I doubt this will happen any time soon, based on what i heard.
Any news about Palmer?

Got to run the oval at Thompson in my Formula Ford years ago. It was really quite a blast. Ovals are fun and hard work. It's like a road course, but every corner is like the hardest one and the straight is short, so they just keep coming at you. Really hard on the neck muscles.
How long is that oval, it's under a half mile, maybe 3/8?

NER-SCCA tried to buy Thompson Speedway and the long unused roadcourse about 30+ years ago. We had people volenteering labor, heavy equipment and operators, etc. NER just couldn't come up with the money.
