I have a friend who I am talking into coming out for COM. He has a Miata a few years old. He will want to continue to put up the soft top and use it for a street car. He is looking at this roll bar.

Whadya think? or should he get one built by one of our COM friends?
I'll try to get him to look at this forum.

The Hard Dog is excellent - easy to install, well made, popular. That's what I got for my "Rat."

Re: Miata Roll bar
+1 on the Hard Dog. It's the most popular of Miata roll bars on the track, for good reason.
Judging by the model (M3 Sport), I take it your friend has a 2006+ M3 MX-5? If so, that would be the best that Hard Dog has. If he has a M1 or M2 Miata, I'd suggest the Hard Core, which is stronger than the Sport.
The full range of Hard Dog bars is on their web site: http://bethania-garage.com/why.htm

Re: Miata Roll bar
Installing the HD roll bar is pretty simple. I had the model where both tops could be used, so the height is compromised a bit, so check your helmet clearance....maybe lowered seat? It required some cutting of the plastic side panels, but its not really too noticeable. Getting the bar in (and out) was a bit of a struggle...very tight, but its a bolt on procedure.
Re: Miata Roll bar
Dave hit the nail on the head.
I'm not too familiar with the 2006+ specific offerings, but am very familiar with the 1990-2005 Hard Dog models, and highly recommend them.
For 1990-2005 Miatas, I would go with the M2 Hard Dog Hard Core Dual Diagonal. The M2 fits both M1 (1990-1997) and M2 (1999-2005) Miata chassis.
The Hard Dog Sport M3 is specific to the new chassis (2006+). Paul Shearer, Tom McPherson, and Will Strobel ran a different brand, as it was first-to-market. I believe that option is available from Good-Win-Racing.com, but I would go with the harddog.

This is the bar I have in my '91. Here is a phone picture of it installed before all the interior pieces are put back in.WillM wrote: For 1990-2005 Miatas, I would go with the M2 Hard Dog Hard Core Dual Diagonal. The M2 fits both M1 (1990-1997) and M2 (1999-2005) Miata chassis.
Highly recommend the company, there 06+ bar is most likely very good.
