Started raining last night around midnight and rain today until around 4:00 PM.
Sunny on Friday - we hope.

Re: Race from NJMP
Friday was great - it was damp in the morning but sunny and dry by the afternoon, the track got very fast. We had long practice sessions and +1 hour of open track, Jeff W stepped up and filled Big Bill's bigger T&S shoes, awesome job with the TT. We had the European Rally championship cars at the Lightening circuit (team rally cars, big rigs & tents, and two stunning rally gals who came by for a hot-lap ride-along, THANKS!!!! Gordon), and Shake & Bake's all-you-can-eat BBQ in the garages on Thursday night, all great stuff.
The Thunderbolt operations folks were friendly and helpful, Joe and his crew really know how run an event. The flagging folks endured wretched weather but kept us safe for a full 8 hours, it was truly a professional class act.
I hope COM members post their own Thunderbolt videos and stories - my 100+ mph spin into T1 is one I'd rather forget, I'm glad the photographer was elsewhere and also lucky that Sam (who had a front row seat) has a bad memory and no video footage ...

Thanks, Fred! I had a great teacher and was really happy the TT went well! I hope everyone really enjoyed the track and I hope we get back there next year!boltonite wrote:Friday was great - it was damp in the morning but sunny and dry by the afternoon, the track got very fast. I think we were all too busy drooling! Very nice looking Norwegians. One wore my helmet, it never smelled to so good!. Went to visit their set up Friday night hungout and met Tanner Foust. It is actually Rally Cross, part dirt part pavement. 500HP 2 liter. The Europeans are much more into it then we are over here. One driver told me it is more like our Demolition Derbysbreakaway500 wrote:Glad you guys got some dry time! Any pics of the rally girls..?
After watching this though, I think the COM practice day on Thursday had some very similar scenes!

They told me that they thought ESPN would be broadcasting the NJMP event sometime later this month. We'll have to keep an eye open for it.

Re: Race from NJMP
Saturday morning I drove the girls and one mechanic over to Thunderbolt. Then got the full tour and two sets of DVDs. Who knows Norwegian? Then the racer girl in 2WD non-turbo Subie that had her car at NHMS for our last event borrowed my helmet for the Rallycross because she did not have a full face mask helmet.
The AM heat racing was a blast. Two cars hit the tire barrier that was a high speed chicane. Parts and tires everywhere but they just raced over them.
