Hi All!,
We want to bring our "Lemons car" to the up coming Thunderbolt event , To test the car, The driver will be a veteran SCCA racer, My question is, how much time "on the track" can we expect to get ?

Thankx,

Hi Eugene:

I don't know the specifics of the NJ schedule, but you could figure on 4 20-25 minute sessions on the first day.

On the 2nd day, we have 2 20-25 minute practice sessions in the morning. In the afternoon we have the time trials (3 hot laps). After time trials are over we have open track for the remainder of the day.

As Jeff said, 4 20-25 minute sessions, at least.
We only have ~45 cars signed up for this event. I'll make up the final run groups & session times soon. Our run groups and schedule is fixed enough that they do not change much from event-to-event, but flexible enough to allow us maximize track time for all participants. We normally have 5 run groups, which at the current participation level would indicate that we'd have groups with only 8-10 cars in them.

There is no way that I'm going to do that. Participants registered for this event should bring a good night's sleep and gas cans!

Sounds like I better get my tire situation sorted out!

Thank god gas is cheap in NJ.

Tip for anyone trailering in...At exit 26 off route 55, which is the exit I usually take into the track, if you turn left there's a Riggins Truck Stop/Gas Station. They have diesel, and plenty of room for trucks/trailers to get turned around. I usually stop there on the way into the track and fill up the truck and gas cans for the car. Never had problems w/ their gas.

There's also a Riggins downtown that has diesel and gas.

Remember that you can't touch the pumps in NJ, so some guy that probably doesn't speak much english will be filling up your truck, car and gas cans. They gave me a hard time about filling my yellow fuel jugs (they stay cooler in the sun than red) with gasoline last time I was down there.

Diesel seems to be self-serve in NJ, at least off the turnpike. I've never been hassled at the Riggins, even when we had some blue 5 gallon race gas cans.
