local engine builders?
I think it may be time to have the ole small block re-built (to ST class rules) and am looking for suggestions as to who locally (MA, NH, ME, VT) might be a good shop for the job?
I've been referred to Golen Engine Services in Hudson NH but am interested in hearing about more if you have suggestions.
TIA.

Re: local engine builders?
R&L Engines out of Dover NH built mine. Very happy with it except for the new BMW oil pump that let go at the last event. One in ten million chance that I would get a bad pump but that's what happened. It only cost me a set of rod bearings.
Use good oil. It saved me a lot of money.

Not really. I didn't get to run the TT. I would have run a solid 1:15 .cuda6666 wrote:You very fortunate.

Re: local engine builders?
Golen Engine Service built my first 383 stroker.....it ended about 500 miles later when the crankshaft snapped in half at the Glen. I attribute it to the fact that they told me that I would not need a forged crank if I didn't plan on running forced induction/nitrous. I think that I proved that theory wrong. I didn't end well for me....I ended up eating the motor. They didn't stand by their work.....so I would steer clear of them if I were you. But it is only my opinion, so take it for what its worth.

R & L built a motor for my camaro that blew up after 3 easy, break-in laps during a thurs. open practice.

I was also considering putting in a crate motor or swapping in an LS1 motor but both of those would bump me up to SPA, which I had hoped not to do.

Leo at R&L did machine work for my brother on his E30 M3 motor. It came out nice and I'd recommend him as well. My brother went to Turner first, and they sent him to Leo.

Give Dave Wilkins from R&D Speed in Lee, NH a call at 603-502-3404. He built a 600hp old 302 Chevy for my Camaro and a 500Hp 383 Chevy street engine for my vette. Great builder, VERY knowledgable.
