being in the body business for more than 25 years now i have scene alot of crashed cars . when some people don't want to add safety gear to a car i think thats nuts ! so if your not smart enough to do it your self then thats when the rules tell you to . there may come a time when you will have to use a han's to run in all P classes and FP . that would be a rule i would vote yes on . did you ever see what a car looks like when it gets t-boned at just 45 mph or a car that hits the guard rail at 65 ?

Do you drive to work with your helmet on?

I thought Ron was the only one in the office that had to wear one.

Lets look at a roll cage from a purely economic side for all you tight wads. About 5 weeks ago I hit the wall coming onto the front straight at the Glen. Actual speed was 82 mph at impact according to data logger. Its a miata with a nice cage. Now for all you that can't visualize this, on your way home tonight get going 82 mph and imagine driving into the Jersey barrier at about a 30 degree angle and imagine whats left of your car. In my case, because of a stout cage, a fender, a door and a rear quarter and a $500 frame pull and my car is back and ready to race. Without that cage both me and the car would be totalled. I can live with a wrecked car. Not so much with a wrecked me. So it probably saved me $7-8k to have the cage. So for all you nay sayers, I pray you do not come unstuck while trying to find the limits of adhesion. Your life may depend on it.

i don't think we are talking about driving to work ? so wearing a helmet in a car going to and from work would be a point less discussion .but it times i would like to ! i do wear a helmet if i'm on a bike ! does that count ?

I should probably wear a helmet at all times.
I like my roll cages. They keep me warm and fuzzy.

I'm sure the subject has been mentionned before. For those wearing harnesses. We should include a head and neck restraint.. As you are heading towards the barrier (if you have time to even think), I can garantee you that you will be aware that you are not wearing one (hence not feel warm and fuzzy). The last thing we want to hear is:"HANS device probably could have saved...". Much better to hear: "Good thing he/she was wearing one..." All the experienced drivers in this club have a neck and head restraint.

Paul, good point. And well informed on your part, unfortunately.
