Where to stay at Watkins Glen

Post by sdcham1 » Tue Aug 17, 2010 7:15 pm

Just looking to make a booking and not sure where to stay, I would like to find something not so B&B. I'd like something with a bar or pub attached and ideas?

Get a room at the Seneca Lodge. Nice rooms and a Bar!

+1 on Seneca. Lots of history and not so much peeling wall paper as years ago. Your going to need that bar if your new motor is any indication!

Or do both: stay in one of their "quaint" cabins, its almost like sleeping outdoors on the ground! +1 on the bar and lodge.

A step up from the Seneca Lodge is the Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel. I stayed there when I ran with the Audi Club in July. I think its a new hotel, less than 5 years old, or so? Very nice rooms, decent rates. Its in the center of town, right on the lake. Its just a bit further from the track than the Seneca Lodge.

Liz and I really enjoy the Falls Motel. The bar has a 30-foot waterfall in it. Really.

Room rates are reasonable, bar and wine list is excellent, food is very good, the owner is a racer.

Has anyone stayed @ the Watkins Glen Villager Motel & Glen Manor?

Their rates seem very reasonable and they have a car club special that give the 2nd night @ half price.

I've stayed at the Villager a bunch of times. If you get the "hotel" rooms near the pool, they are not that bad. A little expensive for what you get, though. The motel rooms are pretty nasty, but it has been many years since I have seen the inside of them. So maybe they are fixed up by now!

Clean and well priced

Liz and I stayed at the Clipper on Monday and Tuesday, just about across from the Dunkin. It was good - warm shower, working A/C and heat to dry wet suits, clean, $89.

It was the filthiest, vilest place I have ever paid to stay in (my military experiences were for free! )

I try to stay at the Seneca Clipper every time I'm in town. They've got parking for a tow vehicle with trailer near the street and it's across the road from homemade ice cream. Free intarweb too.

That will ruin the power to weight ratio though

Not that I haven't already, for anyone who knows me.
