NHMS: 99 dB @ 50ft
Mont Tremblant: 92 dB
Mosport: No limit
Summit Point: 103dB @ 50ft
Lime Rock Park: 89dB @ 50ft
Calabogie: 92dB @ 50 ft
Watkins Glen: No limit
The limits above are either from the COM contract with the track or from a call speaking to a track representative.

i pick one up that reads from 40 to 130 db's . my car does use a street bikes muffler so i think its ok but i will get a turn down tip for it and maybe a suppertrap . with all the other work this car needs i don't want to think about the sound level too .

I also have a db meter in my trailer (I actually have two of them) if anyone needs to test prior to Tremblant.

on the porsche forums they say monticello sound level is 100 db's . they also say this is the last year that they will rent the track out to clubs . the reason is now they have the money to finish the track and there is no need to keep renting it .

i just tested the DB level on the diasio . i did a drive by in 2nd gear on the gas . a frend holding the meter 50 feet away . it was 93 DB's for the high . i made a turn down tip and we tested it again and got 90 DB's for the high . i hope i will pass at tremblant . i did a test and tune day at lime rock this spring .thou i only was on the track for 1 1/2 run sessions before the car broke . they did not black flag me . so i hope it will be good to go ?

There are no limits for sound on a Lime Rock test day. You can make all the noise you want. Very odd arrangemnt they have with the town.

i did not know that ! i had napa drop off a cheap 35 dollar muffler today . i will install it if i get black flaged for to high of a DB .

Last Thursday with SCDA, LRP was enforcing 87db. Sound meter was hand-held on the wall under the start/finish tower when cars were flat out, with the attendant telling Control to black flag cars at the bridge.
Several Miata's went home, among others.

I got the black flag earlier this season at LRP. I do not know where they were taking the reading but told me I was between 88-92 dB. Fortunately someone had a Supertrapp muffler I could borrow for the day.
Can someone confirm the sound limits for Tremblant and Calabogie? I thought they were 92 dB but want to be sure and be prepared accordingly for those events.

SOUND MANAGEMENT & RESTRICTIONS
All Participants must adhere to the mandatory noise restriction of 92 dB or lesser without exception. Calabogie Motorsports Park will measure noise levels of ALL vehicles and/or equipment prior to being granted access to the track.
In today’s Motorsport activities, sound management a joint task shared by all members including tracks, clubs, participants, promoters and even fans. As an established motorsports facility, Calabogie Motorsports Park (CMP) has imposed its own noise guidelines, testing procedures and maximums to ensure CMP creates a favourable environment for all.
1. Screening Test – After a brief visual muffler check, a stationary test is undertaken. Sound levels will be measured 15 feet in front and behind the vehicle while the engine is revved at the maximum allowable rpm or the red line of the tachometer.
o Cars, the average should be no more than 100 dbA with no single reading over 104 dbA.
o Motorcycles, the average should be no more than 98 dbA with no single reading over 100 dbA.
2. Pass-by Test – With the vehicle under full acceleration on the track, a reading will be taken from 50 feet. The maximum level allowed is 92 dbA. This level and standard is the most commonly used in North America and Europe and is where the entire industry is headed. Tests are valid for 9 months unless modifications to vehicle are made.
Cars and motorcycles that do not meet the noise criteria in the pass-by test will be black flagged and will not be allowed to run until modifications have been made and a re-test performed to ensure compliance with the guidelines. It is the driver’s responsibility to ensure their vehicle meets the noise restrictions that Calabogie Motorsports Park has in place.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, a reading obtained at one track cannot be relied upon to know what your car will read at another. I ran 88-90dB at a Test & Tune Day at Lime Rock last April, and the same setup read 93.5dB at Tremblant on a day with very much the same climatic conditions. YMMV.
My solution last year was that old reliable: steel wool. That raised the sound level to 96dB and yielded up a second black flag. This year's attempt will include the same muffler with a resonator and a turndown tip added. I give it 50-50 as to how successful that's likely to be.
