NHMS Changes you may notice
Good evening everyone, Just thought i would share with you all an update on what I've noticed within the past two weeks while passing NHMS.
Turns 6-8 remember how there used to be trees by that turn.... NOT any longer those turns will have a lot of sun.
Also Shell Gas station - They updated their fuel pumps and only advertise 91 octane however, when asked what happend to 93 octane they said that 93 doesn't really exist and that it's still 93octane because of the 10%ethanol additive?

Re: NHMS Changes you may notice
I was there on Monday w/ SCDA trying to shake down my car. There is more pavement around the upper edge of The Bowl but it's off camber so it's not really useful unless you tend to drop tires off the edge up there.
I also found (and unfortunately used) a new patch of marbles on the left side of T9 that I don't remember being there before. I'm glad it was though.

Ack, so who sells 93 octane near the track...the Citgo across the street from Shell? FWIW, most gas stations have 87 and 93 in their tanks. 91 is just a mix of the two which occurs at the pump I believe.

Tju-vette That's unfortunate about the marbles hopefully they will have done something about that for the next couple outings. CP- i believe Citgo does sell the 93 i'll have to stop and look but yah i believe 93 is a mixture of some kind however i could ask my neighbor down the road who works for Texas Oil Refinery ( this guy also let me drive his T-rex with the Kawasaki1600cc engine ) Holy G-force.... Keep the updates comming this should be a good thread

They used to sell race gas (CAM or CAM II?) at a station on 3A in Bow, not sure what the octane rating is/was.

I can do some investigating for those gas stations that have 93. i know some cars are tuned for that kind of octane If everyone wants i can compile a list of who sells 93 around the NHMS area to include Bow, Concord, Loudon area.

Re: NHMS Changes you may notice
Sorry, didn't make my point very well: the unfortunate part was I lost power steering in T8, I was actually happy the marble (perhaps I'm using the wrong word to describe them) were there as they slowed me down enough so I could stop before I re-entered the track @ the exit of T9Neptune441 wrote:Tju-vette That's unfortunate about the marbles hopefully they will have done something about that for the next couple outings.

Re: NHMS Changes you may notice
FYI, the Shell was still only listing premium as 91 octane.
Anyone know if the place across the street had 93?

We filled up with 93 a few week ago at the gas station (Mobile I think) at that first set of lights heading back towards the freeway.

I once blew an engine on their gas. I think they get itf rom hoards of midnight bandits that siphon from cars in Manchester.Neptune441 wrote:The Z1 express where the Red Roof inn on 106 has 93 as well prices are falling this is a good thing for all of you whom are headed out to race in the next few days !

You know i've wondered too because at times my car has run great but then again has had some issues.... i understand each "Station" has a bad batch every once in awhile but to have an engine blown and adding the 10% ethanol is not worth it , probably the reason why Bruce blew his motor...bigbrakeparts wrote:Arg, does this mean they never had 93 or its now changed?

Re: NHMS Changes you may notice
I think all gas stations add up to 10% ethanol on all gasoline grades.
However, this should not effect tuning since the gas you buy pretty much everywhere has the 10% added. So I get tuned usually with Shell 93 octane which I assume to have the 10% ethanol already.
However, I'm wondering if they have always had 91 Octane gasoline (with the 10% ethanol) which would certainly cause the ECU to pull timing etc.
