Specifically what rule?
Re: whos cars did they use
Not sure which rules you mean to but the car pictured has SCCA NASA and BMWCCA log books and all required safety gear: window net, full cage, 6-pt harnesses, fire system, kill switch. If your car meets minimum Prepared rules then please join in, FP needs more participants!

FP RULES ! it states that in my first sentence .from the photo of the m3 on the track there looks to be no window net being used .

Re: whos cars did they use
The car in the above photo is sitting unoccupied in the paddock. Why would the window net (which this car has) have to be installed and visible?
Window nets are not required in Prepared classes. It is one option and the other would be arm restraints.

To address your original question of “so can i run one of my cars that don't meet FP rules in FP too ?” – you can participate in any class you want.
Of course you would have to suffer the consequences of being protested by the any other participant in the class you run in or from the class you should be in or any Steward or Event Chairperson.

Re: whos cars did they use
Those two pictures (provided by Mario Fallas) you reference were obviously not taken during the time trials since I only see F. F.’s driver number on the car.
Street Touring rules do not require that a window net be utilized in that class.

Re: whos cars did they use
Can't you can use any car that is in a slower class? What are are you trying to say, that it is unfair that they used someone elses car (that is slower than the FP class) to get points? Since FP is the fastest class, you would have used your tow vehicle to get points and I am sure no one would protest you.

Re: whos cars did they use
no ! i want to know if my vw is not up to FP rules can i still run it in FP to get year end points for that class . the only thing that will not meet the rules in FP is the battery disconnect switch . i do not want to install one just to run one event untill the diasio is up and running . an ST4 vw on street tires in no way will be competittive in FP . but when i was looking at the pic's and saw how i think is john driving the m3 with no window net . i started to think ? 1 i could have gone back up to monticello the next day with the vw to just get some year end points in fp . 2 insted of missing nhms 1 should i take or could i take the vw there and run it in fp knowing its not meeting all the rules . i could give a rats ass about what cars they run . its about ME !!! i want to go to the track . but i don't want to run in another class . i want to get points in the class i will be running in with the diasio .
Re: whos cars did they use
As far as I understand, you can run any car that is slower, in a higher class without a problem. The only time you might have a problem would be if someone protested you. The only reason someone might do that would be if you won. If another FP car showed up, I would have to bet that you would have very little chance of beating them in the vw (no offense).
So run it.
So run it.

Two words: HEAD ROOM. You may have been confused by that other picture of me towering over John.962porsche wrote:look it carls photos in the monticello pics # 371 ans 372 .
Edit: The track is clearly dry in those photos; John ran the TT on a wet track (after a quick downpour), demonstrating clearly why counting all TT points (instead of a best of N approach) is not always the most "fair" approach.
