 There was a COM member selling an older Daytona last year that might fit the bill.

there was a really cheap 318ti in the COM classifieds that would have fit that bill - it might still be available....

This is from a former?/present COM member. The price is higher than you are looking for, but its such a good deal. If I only had the room and time for another car....

then the miata would be perfect - it doesn't get much cheaper than that deal listed above.

What he said; but if you are tall it can be very difficult to fit in a miata and meet some clubs safety requirements. Something to consider when buying, I love mine as a dual purpose street/autox/track car. I'm only 5'=7" though, have a 30" waist, and weigh about 135lbs. Getting in and out of the car isn't an issue for me.

i don't know what state you live in but i was looking on craigslist in ct. ma. and nh . there are alot of acura's and honda's in your price range . there was a 1993 ? sohc vtec 2 door civic in mass for a grand that i may call on . it needs paint but with a 130k miles . i could repaint it and flip it for 3 grand ez . one thing with honda's the body panels are cheap . the down side to miata's are the cost of the body panels . you can buy a hole nose for a civic for what a hood cost for a miata .

Miatas are ideal because they're generally reliable (sez the guy that's put in 2 engines in less than a year) , and parts are cheap.

If you do 2 time trials a year, you are eligible for discounted parts from Mazda their their competition support program ( http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/ ).

Do a Honda. Find one that's rust free with no mods and upgrade as you go along. Get on Hondasofnewengland.com and pick up a car or parts from guys who have no money. For what it costs to put a rollbar in a Miata, you'll have a race ready early 90's Civic or CRX. When it breaks, upgrade to Integra stuff. It's been done a million times and every Civic has a comparable Integra model to get parts for to upgrade to. There are B18 swapped Civics in your pricerange on that website right now.

i would have to agree with that ! i do like miatas and they do handle very well but . hondas are cheap and there are a shit load of parts out there for up grades that are also cheap . except the headers ! talk about getting bent over . i run my stock delsol si twice at the track once at nhms and once at lime rock . the brakes are the down fall with that car . way to small and over heat very ez . not so much at lime rock but at nhms for get it ! they need cooling ducts or just bigger brakes . it has a d16 sohc vtec motor that works good . the other thing with the delsol is the body flex that the miata does not have . or at least no were near as much as the delsol even with the roof on . before i built my 944 spec car i built a spec miata . i built the cage installed the seat (bolted right to the floor ) got into the car and went crap i just don't fit . got a new seat with more lay back and still my head hit the roll bar .

yea plus i like the fact that ide have a roof over my head as far as headers would go i probably make my own instead of spending 400 bucks on them.then make my own exhaust and short ram intake.then would be the brake issues dot 5 brake fluid brake coolers with blowers and some good race pads like the yellow stuff pads
