monticello grate track but

Post by 962porsche » Tue May 04, 2010 2:21 pm

i had one bad time there ! its bad when you pay to run at a track and the you brake a diff. but when i got the car back to my shop and was working on it monday night to try to get back up there tuesday . i noticed oil coming from under my skid plate as well . i dropped the skid plate and there is a crack in the oil pan . now i know the car is low 2 3/4 inches off the ground . were they had us paddocked on the proses stone is one thing ! but the transition from the stone to back top is another . it may have been a good thing that the diff let go or i may have lost all the motor oil on the track which would not have been good for my car or even your if you got into it ?

Sorry to hear about that David. I was paddocked near that transition and saw (and heard) several low-riding cars bottom out.

The track was GREAT, and despite the ever-changing & challenging weather conditions, it was VERY worth the trip. I'm sure the club will return!

hell yes so well i . i'm trying to get back there on the 14th . i have the diff boxed up and getting sent out to winters today . i welded the crack in the oil pan last night . i will have to fab up a thicker skid plate than the one the car came with . i'm taking plywood with me too so i can lay it down were the stone ends and the black top starts . an other good point for me is its not that far to travel at just under 2 hours .

Dave, that was really rotten luck at Monticello.

I'm looking forward to seeing you at the track again, in any car!
