Good to see you yesterday Brendan, your car looks awesome! Super clean and purpose-built. VERY nice.

DId you get the number you wanted from DSG's heart-breaker dyno?

After I was done with my pulls, we pulled the airbox/filter off of my throttles, and I asked Nick @ DSG to shoot some video during a dyno pull.

The throttle bodies I have run a straight-shot right to the back of the intake valves. The valves are moving too fast to be seen, but the video caught just about everything else, including the glow of the spark plug as the RPMs ramped-up. Next time, I may try shooting a timing light in there. Maybe the strobe effect will help slow down some of the action. An adjustable timing light could make for some awesome video.

Shot at 720P, 60fps. Recommend watching in full screen.

Pull starts at ~2000 and finishes at 8500 RPMs.

Will, good to see you too - Awesome videos, another reason ITB's are fantastic :D

I was surprised by the results I got (In a good way) especially for a stock motor minus the intake and Megasquirt - 176 whp which is pretty strong for a stock S14 on a Dyno Dynamics.

Finished getting my harnesses, seats, and all the rollbar padding in today, even mounted up my track wheels so I'm in pretty good shape for Monticello!

Nice Will,
So what did your car make for power? I think you Brendan and I are within a few HP of each other.

Nice video WIll! Thats really cool. FYI if you are at it again we have a high speed camera at work, LMK and I will come take some footage.

AS a side note, I just got done painting the S4K race car! well the interior, underside, engine bay and trunk at least. It came out great and after a few days to cure I wil start building it up. It wont be done for Monticello :( and my parents arrive fro the Uk on vacation on Thursday anyhow so my next target is the first NHMS COM event.

What's with the black 16V Merc? Is that a track car? Is it for sale, even? It is kind of my dream track car...

I didn't see the Merc in person (Alex took all these pictures). I believe it is just another customer car that happened to be there the same day and that DSG is prepping it for NASA?

Hi Guys, the 16v is a customer/friend's car. He's going to be building it with us for NASA racing. Brendan, are you going to Monticello this weekend?

Yes, I'll be there. The car is pretty much ready to go at this point save for some final small items....

I made exactly what Brendan made for hp (176hp), but with a ton less torque (measly ~120-125). That pull was with the airbox removed. With the airbox & filter, the number dropped to 160-161, so clearly I have some work to do! Amazing to see, but the airbox costs about 15hp. Funny, I likely wouldn't have known if I hadn't removed the filter to shoot the video!

Yow! That's quite some power! I should have asked Les to swap our engines! :-)

Wow. I can't even imagine what 176rw is like. What is even more surprising is that I could be so envious of a number like that, when my last car made almost 500rw.

I am envious.

Thanks guys. Watch for the bump-draft, as it only makes that power up high so I won't be lifting! Max hp is at redline. If I wanted to, I could ring it out past 9k and pickup some power, but I built this thing to last.
