don't take this the wrong way, but please read all of the posts in this thread.

The 1993 limitations are such that a Miata with a bolted-in-place hard top AND SFI rollbar as approved for COM is NOT approved for any BMW chapter.

My Miata was REJECTED for ANY and ALL classes, for not having a COMPLETE CAGE.

Any other published, word-of-mouth, or otherwise learned information is being rejected by the Chief Steward and Tech at the site.

In passing, the Steward mentioned that other open cars without complete cages would be rejected as well, without specifying car model.
this is 100% false. As stated earlier in this thread, I have personally spoken with three HPDE event coordinators of the Boston BMW chapter to verify that their convertible rules, which are clearly posted on their website and which I have posted a link to twice in this thread so far are still valid. And they are. As in I talked to them this past week.

The event coordinators are:

Luka Serdar
Simon Cooper
Joe Marko (from HMS Motorsport)

Why other chapters are spreading disinformation, I have no idea. They can speak for their chapters and their chapters only.

I happily run my Miata with a Hard Dog rollbar with Boston BMW. With no issues. At all. My car has been inspected and approved by the club for this season. If anyone here really wants to run with Boston BMWCCA, then I suggest calling them and having one of the coordinators come and inspect your car. If not, then don't - but please, why continue to post disinformation about the club in this thread?

I am not taking it wrong, and I have read all the posts in this thread. I am just reporting what I heard form the mouth of the seniors at WMC this weekend with regards to their club and their impression of all BMW clubs.

Just being a reporter is all.

This thread is about the WM and this was information directly from them. I cannot comment on Boston, only what WMC said about Boston.

Boston BMW was actually the first club I ever ran an HPDE with in my Miata, last summer.

No one posted misinformation about Boston BMW. In fact, I congratulated Boston for allowing roll bars in converts. What is happening is misinformation spread by BMW chapters. Members of this forum are merely stating what they have been told by knowledgeable persons from White Mountain and Patroon. I hope the dire prediction by White Mountain that ALL chapters would be banning roll bars in converts is incorrect. Could you, perhaps, have one of the guys from Boston write a short letter stating that roll bars are allowed? Then post it here to close the discussion?

Can we move this discussion to the BMW forum? This is COM.

All of the contact info is on the BMW CCA site if people would like to speak to someone in person about convertibles at an HPDE. If people want to read the rules for convertibles at an HPDE, those are also posted on the site. I've posted the link twice in this thread.

With regards to misinformation - the WMC staff clearly are not aware of how their sister chapter to the south is run, yet continue to comment on it. That is what I was referring to.

All right! I was wondering when we were going to get back around to talking about the Atom. Can't wait!

We tuned it for a nice fat power curve..250ft.lbs of torque from 2.5k to 7.2k redline, where the hp peaked at 300 even.Feels like a turbo diesel! No methanol, and about 17 degrees of total timing..so the tune is conservative, which is what I wanted for the track. He did tune it for higher numbers at first, but I had to keep hammering the importance of a wide power band to him. The tune was done with the Supertrapp muffler in place, which runs about 93 db,so I should be OK at most tracks. :sunny:
