Funny how the Atom was just fine in any class..as long as it wasn't winning .

I've seen cars in my class that were supposed to be in others, but since they were slower, I didn't protest. I think it would be poor form to protest someone you just beat in TT.

how about a stock GT-R? Seems they have been FTD bone stock with COM.

How about an ACR Viper.Some good sticky track tires..FTD!
Or, a ZR-1 Corvette. Good tires,good driver...FTD!
A GT-3 Porsche should be capable as well..
A Enzo..a 430 Scudera... Lambos..

I chose a light vehicle to run because I see no purpose in hauling around an extra few thousand pounds out on a race track! Useless weight, in my eyes.

The place to hash this out is the Steward Thread. The BOD isn't the group that determines the class for oddball cars.
Mark S won't tell the Atom he is misclassed, not his job. In order to be sure the trophy count is correct, I have, in the past, emailed owners of obviously misclassed cars (believe it or not one guy registered his bone stock 2006 Miata as SSU!). I pass that honor on to David, so he can order the correct number of class trophies.

getting away from this atom crap we all know its a 2 seat formula car !!!! lol . and should be in FP !!! i called the owner of the noble i worked on some time ago . one of the things i asked was did the car come with a vin # or a production # ? i was told it comes with a title and vin # on the title . it does not come with a point of orinin and production # . does ct look at that car as a kit car or a production car ? i was told ct looks at the noble as a production car . i made the comment about people thinking is a kit car . he got very up set about that and with out all the bells and weasels . it is not a kit car !!!!!! now that was only one owner of one noble . how much does he realy know ? how to say . but like i stated many times before we need to look into it some more .

Mark, I for one don't car what class you are in. You seem to be having fun! As for the Noble, it does sound like a kit car so it belongs somewhere in SP. Keep it in SPB (SPA is too crowded ) If he gets put in SPA, I'll have to take the windshield off and play with Pat in PA.

Anyone who actually knows anything about a real formula car would never consider calling the Atom a formula car,any more than a Diasio is a real GTP car. I am flattered,though.

COM rules state that a kit car, to be considered for STREET PREPARED, be street legal.The car must meet the requirements of the COM rule book and have a current state registration and inspection sticker or meet the New Hampshire Statutes on Equipment of Vehicles (http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rsa/htm ... XI-266.htm) including the Street Rod statutes.
One would have to infer from that statement that Street Prepared is for cars that can be street driven. The Atom is such a vehicle.There are hundreds of them on the street, driven every day. It is actually available as an incomplete "kit' as well.
The COM rules do not say it has to have a 17 digit VIN or be a production car.Not for street prepared.

"The Showroom Stock (SS) category is intended to provide competition for mass produced stock automobiles."
That's the only place in the rules I see anything about mass production being a requirement.

"Cars are classified in five (5) classes based on performance potential." SSC,SSB,SSA,SSGT and SSU.
This is also the only place in the rules I see that cars are classified by their performance potential.

PREPARED CLASS is for ANY CAR that does not fit into any of the more restrictive classes: SS,ST or SP. or has been modified beyond the lower class equipment limits.
Most street cars end up here because of fender/body/frame modifications..

Formula Prepared is for high-performance purpose-built race cars. It does not say off road use only cars,or track use only cars...it says high performance purpose built RACE cars.Cars that you see actually racing in sanctioned racing events.
Cars that you NEVER SEE ON THE STREET. No one in the entire world races an Atom.No one.Not even me.

If you buy a Noble new,it comes into the country without a drivetrain.It is then finished assembled,and gets a title.This is done to circumvent Federal requirements for crash,safety and emissions requirements. Most "kit" cars use this "loophole" to become registered.
COM rules don't care how a car gets registered,only that it IS registered,or can be registerable by NH state requirements,as stated above (in SP rules). However,the Noble starts life as a "kit" car.

you do know i'm playing around when i called your formula atom a 2 seat formula car . even thou it is the thing about the noble is i could give a rats ass whether its a production car or a kit car !! i'm just repetting what i was told from one owner ! i was also told that the noble is now manufactured 100% in the usa . i asked about the air bag laws . he stated that becouse its a low production car under 100 units a year they circumvent the federal laws so the cars come with titles and vins that stay with the cars even after the are registered . as with a kit car the DMV gives you a vin # . so i'm told . BUT LIKE I STATED I DON'T CARE !!!!

Back to the Noble ---- if the car comes only as a "componet" car -- (kit car) it has to be classed in SP.

I agree with Sam and others that we want people in the right class to begin with, not after some one has to protest.
