The Drift

Hey all,
The snow is melting, group buys are underway, installs are planned, licensed registration is sold out for NHIS, and everyone's getting excited for the season.

The Drift is COM's magazine, written and produced by club members to step up the trash-talking, red-misting competition and keep in touch between events. Under new direction, the 2006 Drift is seeing some changes. What do you want to see in the Drift? What would you like to see dropped?

If you have ideas for the Drift, please post them, we may find someone willing to follow through on them; articles, photos, comics should be emailed to drift.editor@gmail.com.

Advertising rates are posted here.

The submission deadline is 20 March.

More Subaru pictures and fewer Miata pictures!! Also, Mustang Scott should be made to write an article after a few drinks. I'm sure it will be hilarious.

As a photojournalist who also operates and edits a few magazines, can't say because i have never received the magazine. Maybe being a member since fall last year means there has been no issue since i joined??? Send me a few issues and i'll look-see.

It seems a lot of pages are used up to post times. I'd like to see more driving technique articles, and tech suspension setup articles and maybe do a feature on one or 2 members cars in each edition.

Agreed. I was going to suggest articles on the racing line for upcoming tracks.

Mosport, Tremblant, etc. always seem to require re-learning for me. Something similar to Bruce Allen's post, or the Kevin Foote posts on the Subaru Forums (Foote-notes? Nyuk nyuk!) would be nice.

I just got my copy with the revised format. It looks awesome! A lot of good stuff in there and great picts. Looks very professional.

Clare, I don't know you , but you obviously have good taste...lead car on the cover of the outstanding new Drift is a Mustang. Thank you for bringing some class and sanity to our clubs publication- very nicely done.

This is no disrespect to Louis and his years of work- but he is a Camaro guy and we all know they can barely spell.

BTW that wasn't Raj working on his ball joint in that picture was it ?

Hey even I got a copy 8)

I like the write up on Mosport, having never been there its nice to have an overview before we go. Am I reading those distances correctly? Is that basically a 2 mile straight away? :shock:

Mike did I say you would hit 150 mph ? I meant 155 mph ! It is all uphill though, so you are likely to launch into shallow orbit.

I'll let off, thats too fast for me. :o Maybe I'll hang out with the Miatas for the first mile and cool the car down. :lol:

Scott, you think my car is fast? We had an Auto X yesterday and I was asked to take a Twin Turbo 03 Cobra for a run, car makes 740 to the wheels on pumpgas and low boost. It actually was really easy to drive, but man... get it up on boost and it really puts a smile on your face. :twisted:

Not exactly, althought that would be fun. The 2 mile inticator is total distance. The back straight starts from the 1.25 mark and goes to the 2 mile mark.

Harrrrr! That was me sabotaging my own wheel bearing just so I'd have the joy of spending hundreds of dollars replacing the axle, boot, bearing, etc. after NHIS :oops:

Agreed - very nice magazine, Clare. Even my parents liked it, although they said I shouldn't have used the last word in my article ;)
