To Fred and the rest of the BOD.. This was a very good idea, and I appreciated being asked for my opinion.....particularly on the possible formats of the three day July thing.

The club has come a very long way in how it communicates to its members since I did my first event in.....wow.....I think it was 2002.

I agree, great idea about a survey..however my choice on the July, 3 day event was not on the list: First day practice, second day practice/time trials, third day..open track all day! :D :sunny:

I think the idea of having School the first day , practice /time trials the second, and time trials/open is a great idea, that way instead of having two school days it will get students the opprotunity to really feel the track out and be confident with the instruction that they recieved on day one, Plus it will make for an interesting comparison when looking at time trials for the two days say it's a hot day and your engine just bogs down but the second day it's nice cool weather (70's) and your engine is happy... the tricky part in my opinion is , The club going to avg the two days or have awards for each time trial completion?

I voted two school days and one TT. While I really like the TT component, it does eat up a lot of time. When you consider how well NHMS Com events are attended, especially on weekends, that could seriously cut overall track time down. I like Mark's idea of going practice day, TT day and open day, but the open sessions would be quite crowded initially, until folks start spacing out naturally. At an event where there are not a lot of cars, that could work well. That is why I voted two practice days as the groups are metered.

I'm going for all three days no matter what the club decides to do. ;)

I figured if the last day was an open track, all day event, there would be plenty of opportunity for everyone to run a little, tinker with their cars..run again etc etc without waiting for hours to try something new.. Besides...NO one could stay out the whole day....
Depending on the weather, the second or third day could also be juggled as the time trial day. Always hoping for three good days of weather, but in new england, that is rare.

I can see where two school days could be benefical due to more of a draw for students... either way i would be happy with the outcome.

Was the input request an e-mail? I only ask I didn't receive one, maybe I have to check/renew membership?

As a student who is gearing up for this July event as a shake down for the car and a excellent chance to really get some seat time with instruction; I'd vote two school days and then TT.

However, if there could be some sort of median maybe where student/instruction pairings could be incorporated into the 2nd day of practice session and/or the morning session before the TT that would be ideal for someone like myself. I've done two events already (one including time trail); the only thing that would have improved my day two experience would have been instruction during the open sessions before the TT. I know I could have asked someone to help (my instructor the previous day was not there) but I felt most of the instructors I know were busy working/practicing with their own cars for their TT.

Dropping the lowest scoring race(s) would be interesting too. I'd like to see how that may pan out.

Member input request...deja vu all over again

Post by boltonite » Thu Mar 04, 2010 12:07 pm

The first survey has been completed, we received over 200 responses! As previously noted, results are being shared with members via...

a follow-up survey that needs your input. The follow-up focuses on the 3-day July event, how Time Trial Championship series points are calculated, and on members' plans to attend 'away' events. Your responses will help the board plan and act on your behalf. As a member-driven club, I am gratified by your outstanding degree of support regardless of your position on the various issues -- its all good.

The follow-up survey will close after the weekend, thanks in advance to everyone for taking the time (done in 60 seconds) to respond to the 2nd survey.
