Any1 use Hooseir R3S05 (compare Mich Pilot Sport CUP)
Hi,
Am looking to use the PS2 for daily beater and wet track days, with the R3S05 being dry track. Anyone have experience with the Hooseir R3S05?

Steven - I ran a set of heat cycled & shaved 265/35-18 PS2's for one event in 05' at LRP in the cold/rain on my Mustang. They were run again primarily in the cold/rain at SP Shenandoah circuit. The second day was cold & dry, they seemed to have good grip, corded the right front by the end of the second day. Pressures were run at recommended spec.
Since SP I've been using unshaved Pirelli P-Zero's. They have 4 long course Auto-X days and 10 or so open track days, still have 2-3 events left (I think). No experience with Hoosiers.

The Pilot Sport Cups are not the hot tire to use. They seem to last quite a long time...I was using a Porsche customer's hand-me-downs 2 years ago on my Mustang and got lots of track miles on them. I have not used the SO5s yet, but the Hoosiers have been the quicker dry tires in the past.

Thanks for the info. My problem boils down to budget. Sure the Hoosier 05 are great, but frankly i can't afford a new set every event weekend or two. This lead me to the Pilot Cups. The Kumho look interesting, but i have heard they go off after a bit. Of course it is a balance between grip and wear rating. Basically want a tire that offers decent wear, good grip, and predictable slide at the edge of traction. Low price would be nice too.
So basically i want what what everyone else does... a miracle
i realize the Pilot Cups are not THE best, but are much better than Mich PS2 in the dry and the Cups are said to have good durability.
Thoughts? Anyone?

Toyo RA1, faster than Kumhos (on my car) last way longer than Hoosiers, I have never tried the Pilots, but I have beat guys on them .
On my car the difference between the Hoosiers / Goodyear GSCS and Toyos are less than a second slower on a 1.5 mile course.
Life difference is HUGE.
I get 2 hours of track time out of a set of Goodyears (no matter how you slice it).
I have gotten 16 events out of a single set of Toyos.
The Toyos are a fantastic value of speed vs. cost vs. life.
