Like the old saying goes " a conservationist is someone who already has their house in the wilderness"

But they have a point. I live 2 miles from a small airport that has prop planes and the occasional Lear jet from Marthas Vinyard or Nantucket. I fought like hell to stop them from expanding the airport to handle what was reported as "1 or 2 737 cargo planes a day". There is a HUGE difference between a single engine prop plane and a 737. Although we won, it was due to existing conservation laws, not noise abatement. If the airport near the racetrack already has big jets, they don't stand a chance in closing the track.

According to this group's web site they do not want to close the track down.

In part, from the web site, ". . . we recognize the value and importance this industry can have to the economy of the city and the county. We have considerable amount of research that shows that other racetracks have worked with the community to lessen the impact of noise. The track owners as well as the commissioners are well aware of many solutions. Careful consideration of modifications may prove beneficial to all parties involved."
