That should be quite the ride. That engine looks like it fits like a glove.

It fits like a glove once the chassis rails, firewall, inner fenders and floor, transmission tunnel, strut towers etc etc are cut out and replacedctkag wrote:That should be quite the ride. That engine looks like it fits like a glove.

As it just wasn't fast enough beforebreakaway500 wrote:I'm upgrading my supercharger to a Harrop TVS 1320,adding a better exhaust(3" ported),larger injectors(60lb),new custom ECM tune.Upgrading the intercooler system for lower IAT's,adding stronger suspension pushrods, stronger bellcranks, adding a front wing, adding a better brake bias system, adding a Masterlube oiling system(better engine oiling protection) and making a throttle blipper. Also adding a WATER only injection system. Hope I still fit in the car by spring...
It looks like I am building either a very sturdy boat or a very strange T bucket...
I love how my car looks naked..
I love these things BTW. My next, or one after next project will be a tube frame no body car with more than one engine. Building monocoque cars is just a PITA!
Re: What COM folks are building...
Another shot I like of my projects....
Not that I have an Audi problem or anything.
The other project car is a 1990 V8Q replica of the 1990-1994 DTM machines but with a modern twist. That is the long term GT1 project that got put on hold in April to do the S4K project
A few more shots while I recover from moving snow.
No. of days I can work in the shop between now and April = not very many!

Wow.I must say,you really like to start from the ground up. You do seem to be an Audi aficionado.
I'm too old to do that any more... I need a head start...
Fast is a relative term. I would like to see just how fast I can make my Atom, without major alterations.
Some have stuffed big HP in their Atoms..and they are fast..but I want my Atom to be fast everywhere, not just in a straight line.
What better place than COM to experiment...

Even in the original Audi racing colors... the ones I knew when I was a little boy, watching Walter Roehrl tear up the rally courses in his original Quattro... wow.

Re: What COM folks are building...
Aren't you afraid of next winter, when there will be nothing left to mod on the atoms? The boredom will drive you insane - or worse, you may decide to make your very own, better atom-on-steroids from scratch ... with an engine from a Veyron or a 737 ... not sure which COM class that is, but heaven help us!!!breakaway500 wrote:I'm upgrading my supercharger to a Harrop TVS 1320,adding a better exhaust(3" ported),larger injectors(60lb),new custom ECM tune.Upgrading the intercooler system for lower IAT's,adding stronger suspension pushrods, stronger bellcranks, adding a front wing, adding a better brake bias system, adding a Masterlube oiling system(better engine oiling protection) and making a throttle blipper. Also adding a WATER only injection system. Re: What COM folks are building...
There will always be something to tweak on the Atom... I am contemplating a build on an exo skelletal single seater car..in the idea of the Atom, only a lot lighter...not sure about power.Maybe a Hayabusa/Bking drivetrain..which I would run in FP.Fun to dream...

Exactly what I was thinking... You mean, like a Radical SR8 ...

Re: What COM folks are building...
The SR8 uses a pretty wild drivetrain, read that as BIG $$$$$$! That's the same drivetrain the Atom500 uses.I'm thinking more along the lines of just a plain ole 185hp Hayabusa powertrain, as they are much more inexpensive and readily available. Before I got the Atom,I was going to bulid a Sonic kit car and use the Focus drivetrain to power it...but all that changed once I drove the Atom. That damn car alters your car DNA forever. You start to refer to a Miata as being heavy...and anything over 3k. lbs is downright porko! (no offense to all the pork owners.. )

I've been working on my Elise , had it out today to do some more work. Have front clam (whole nose) coming from Ca. , already have rear clam .
I am also going to be working on my Mustang . Since the new rules allow I think I will install a torque arm
