I'm in the process of attempting to develop a mentoring program and Kai spoke highly about the one that COM has in place. This program is not meant to be in competition with what COM has and I'm not directly affiliated with any Club - just want to continue trying to help more people get into motorsports.
My goal is to keep administering this program as simple as possible. Basically have a place where novices can sign-up and be matched with an appropriate mentor. After that, other than any comments/concerns that either the student or mentor has and a quick “how are things going?” message, I (and hopefully others that help administer this) will essentially not have any further involvement. It will be on a national level throughout the U.S. covering autox, HPDEs, time trials and Club Racing. I’m sure COM will get some referrals out of this.
Beyond run away as quick as possible, what suggestions do you have in making this work and managing the process? Thanks for the advice!

Re: Mentoring Programs
The COM mentoring program is pretty simple. It is actually just one guy who knows lots of other people.
I handle most mentees myself, at least for first contact, then I put them in touch with someone who I think will be a good match. The information is managed in one Excel spreadsheet.

Re: Mentoring Programs
Thanks Carl. Thus far, that's the only way I can think of doing it as well.
