Event schedule for 2010...

Post by Jet Jockey » Wed Nov 18, 2009 9:29 am

Hi,

A friend of mine who is already a COM Sports member suggested I join your club. Presently I'm an instructor for various Audi Club North America chapters and also some BMW Clubs (both in Canada and the USA) but want to start getting into some Time Attack competition. I'm also a member of a local car club in Montreal that does some Time Attacks but their track options are more limited to smaller tracks which are not too appealing to me. They hope to run an event at Calabogie (with the help of other local car clubs) and at ICAR which would be good but no Tremblant and no Mosport because they simply cannot afford those tracks.

Perhaps it is too early yet to ask but do you know what tracks are going to be on your schedule for 2010? Are you going to be back at Tremblant in 2010?

TIA,

Mike

We certainly hope so! :)

This thread will probably include other tracks as well. I don't know when these things are typically finalized. Please do join, and consider making the trip down for NHMS!

Welcome!

We are, without a doubt, going to Mt Tremblant and Watkins Glen in 2010. The dates for these events are different from previous years, and in a GOOD way! :)

There are 4 events confirmed for NHMS as well, including a 3-day weekend.

John Spain, our President, has worked very hard to set our schedule for next year.

The official 2010 schedule, as it stands now with confirmed dates for the 6 events mentioned above (NHMS, Mt Tremblant, WGI) will be announced at tonight's board meeting!

If we can work with another club to get a date at Mosport on the books, I will do the happy dance from now until then!

Stay tuned! I'm going to propose that we send out an email announcement about our dates after tonight's meeting. :)

Excellent! I can't believe my timing.

Now as for working with other clubs maybe our club here in Montreal would be interested in doing so for an event like Tremblant. Our club is very small and cannot afford Tremblant on its own. Perhaps we could pool our members to have more people willing to split the cost of a track like Tremblant, Mosport, Calabogie and WGI.

I would be happy to be the intermediate between your club and ours but first I'll bring it up to the powers at be in our club to see if that would be a viable option to them.

Hello everybody!

I had the link to your forum from Jet Jockey :)

My name is Nancy, and I'm in the organization of the CADL (Club AutoSport Des Laurentides), in the Montreal region.

I do AutoSlalom since 7 years, lapping, SoloSprint and time attack since 4 years. I'm presently the CADL Time Attack Events Director. I've been the President for the last 3 years, and have been involved in the membership before... I have a lot of experience organizing events and co-event (I co-organized the Canadian SoloSprint Championship at Calabogie with the MCO in 2008).

I would like to know, who's the person in charge of the Calendar? Like Jet Jockey wrote, the CADL may be interested to co-organize an event on a bigger track, like Mont Tremblant, and I would like to start some discussions!

Thanks!
Nancy,
CADL Time Attack Events Director

Bonjour Nancy,

The person you want to contact is our club president, John Spain, he manages event scheduling and partnership arrangements.

I took a quick look at your web site and rules, your time attack format is a bit different than COM but otherwise both clubs seem to have similar safety, car classification, passing rules, etc. Events at LCMT have historically not been sold out so there is a possibility of a joint event, but you will need to discuss that with John, our dates have already been set. It would be nice to have a co-sponsored event, like the Boston and Quebec BMW chapters have had (aka Bimmers Across the Border) for the past 10 years.

Thank you, I sent him an email.

We do Time Attack, but I saw that COM do Time Trials, also called Time Attack... So we may do almost the same thing! The big difference I saw is the car classification...

CADL is Quebec bigger affiliated club to ASN (similar to SCCA), but event then, we're not a big club with a lot of money, so that's why we're trying to do co-host!

I'll wait John's news!

Thanks!
Nancy,
CADL Time Attack Events Director

Nancy,
We on the Board have also been wondering if there is a club we could join up with for Mosport. We used to go there but found we lost too much money for lack of willingness of many members to travel so far.

Hello Bruce,

I know ASE Lapping Club going to Mosport, in October normally. I think that Audi and/or BMW club are also going to Mosport, you'll need to check with them.

I just talked to John, and he already talked to Carl from ASE for Tremblant, maybe he can talk for Mosport either. But maybe our club, the CADL, would be interested too. I'll talk to the other administrator (we're 9 on the board) and I'll let you know if there is a possibility of going to Mosport with another club.

Thanks for your input!! :D
