Thanks guys, sounds like one less thing for me to worry about. I'll try to remember to pick up an exhaust elbow, maybe I'll need it some day.

Formula weedwacker!? I think there is a YouTube video of someone who built a motorcycle with something like 24 chainsaw engines. It's funny watching him start it up. Pull cord after cord. I would guess it's hard to tell they are all working after the first dozen are going.... The things people do that we would never know about before YouTube, it's amazing.

Is there a schedule for the Oct/Nov event anywhere on the COM webpage? I got the morning opening time in Mark Swinehart's email, but cannot find anything more. Should I just wait a bit longer?

For affordable brake fluid that's readily available, try the Valvoline SynPower DOT4 from Autozone or stock Ford DOT3 fluid available at the stealerships. I used the Ford stuff for the entire SCCA season (10+ race weekends) of racing my Spec Miata this year and only bled it twice. This was with Hawk Blue pads, which by the way can be used on the street. I ran them all last year towing a 12 foot tire trailer to/from the track with no issues, even when cold in the rain. Granted they take a bit of time to come up to temp for track (hard) braking, but they can be used on the street too. Hope this helps.

Oh, and get that bent suspension piece replaced BEFORE the event. We'd hate for it to fail and you crash your car, hurt yourself and/or someone else.

I will be your classroom instructor.
I look forward to meeting you and offer you the assistance "off-track". I plan to drive (practice) in the same sessions as the students and what I normally do is Video-Tape most of you and re-run it during classroom for feedback. It has been a great experince for studetns to actually watch close to "live action" as possible and assess areas of improvement. This is in addition to your own in-car instructor.

So in short, be prepared to have lots of fun and open your mind for absorbing tons of information.
As for the car, make sure you have the basiscs covered. As for yourself, practice wearing a helmet for 20 minutes at at time and make sure you breathe (very importat) to keep your brain oxygenated so you can listen to your intructor and have opened eyes at all time.

Hmmm, I'm on slicks for my first event in nearly 10 years, and I have a co-driver. It could be sleet!

Benefit of having 2 drivers and 2 cars in the family. If it rains, we drive the Miata on rain tires. If it's sunny, the TR6 runs.

Finally, all that money proves worthwhile!
