Is Comscc up dating the snell rating for 2006? I have a SA95 and was wondering if I have to buy a new helmet this year. I thought it changed every 10 years.

Hi Mike -

Yes, it's my understanding that COM will require M or SA2000 or better beginning this season.

I thought we were going to Snell 2000 starting this year as well, but the 2006 rule book (Section VII, E.) lists M or SA95 as the minimum standard.

SA95 helmets are outdated in SCCA this year.

Snell changes every five years.
That is plenty long enough for a helmet.

On the other hand, if you only have a $100 brain, buy a $100 helmet.

Didn't it used to be .10 helmet for a .10 head ? Inflation sucks.
