COM and The Make A Wish Foundation

Post by chaos4NH » Sun Aug 23, 2009 11:12 pm

Com did itself proud at the Northeast Exotic Car Show held on Saturday, August 22.
First my thanks to:
Chuck Tolley and his son
Bruce Alan and Cindy
Scott Rosnick and Colleen and their son
David Boutelle
Adrian Fitts
Soon to be member Bill Welch. And to brighten up my day, Cortney Johnson, niece of soon to be NASCAR Hall Of Fame member, Junior Johnson.

Bruce roped in a few guys off the street, so to speak, and one has already joined and signed up for our September event, Bruce, in fact, has become his mentor.

Cindy, Colleen and Colleens son did a great job of manning the booth and selling tickets.

Without their help, I would have had little to talk about here! The set up and tear down went smooth and we beat the monsoon!

Other members at the show with cars were Boe and Paul Kalinoski, who, along with Boe's daughter, took home a bunch of trophies!
Also there with his Godzilla car was Mike Geldhardt.

The host club, New England Viper Club, gave COM an outstanding location, across from their sales tent and next to the Make A Wish Foundation display. We were at the center of the event and had a busy day selling Raffle tickets (more on that later), passing out COM fliers, showing the Mosport video, having participants drawing for free ride arounds (Recap below) and talking up the benefits and strengths of COM. Bruce roped in a couple of people, in fact, one joined the club and signed up for the Sept 23-24 event when he got home!
OK, the Free HPDE day raffle raised another $195.00 for the Foundation. We had 35 entries and some entrants chipped in more than the $5.00 minimum, including our winner Kathy Kirby!
To be honest, I lost track of the number of ride alongs we gave away! Contestants had to draw from a stack of cards, and Aces were winners. I think 12 - 14 is in the ball park. Although a free membership goes with the winners, I feel we will create some future members from the enthusiasts who participated.
If I left anyone out, I apologize. It was a busy day, but one we should pursue again next year!

Good work everyone. I wish I could have been there to help out.

Anyways I was wondering, does COM have any vendor sponsors like HMS Motorsports, etc... to our club? I personally like to see some contingency prize and or money for the winners of each classes. This will motivate people and possible attract others wanting to join the club and compete for something.

I'm sure this has been thought out previously by someone, but do we actually have anything like a reward system beside improving driving skills or just trophies?

Here are a few pictures...sorry there is a slight bias towards a certain black Mustang.

btw: The combination of the exposure for COM, the car show, a GREAT cause and the free beer tour ( 2 free 12 oz beers per person that must be drank in 20 minutes and there were plenty of extra beers from others in our party) will bring me back next year.
