Track Guys, Mosport Aug 31-Sept 1

Post by TroyV » Mon Jul 13, 2009 7:24 am

Hi folks, I just got a call from Dell Hughes regarding the Track Guys Mosport event.

They are offering NE-SVT (Formerly SVTOA of Boston/New England) members a10% discount on registration, bringing the registration cost down to 283.50. I am extending the discount to COMSCC members. Contact me off line via email for the discount code. My email address is tv2vgt@yahoo.com

The event is on www.motorsportreg.com See the link below.. The format is HPDE only for two full days.....three run groups....possibly four if there are enough students and instructors to warrant it.

I don't know about you guys, but that is seriously cheap for two days at one of the best tracks in the Northeast.

I'm going, as is Mick, and potentially three or four more instructors from COM. It happens smack in the middle of a lull in COM's schedule.

I believe the host hotel will be providing a bbq dinner on the night in between.....more details on that later. Camping at the track will be allowed..

Track Guys Redline Rendezvous

Mosport International Raceway—Grand Prix Circuit

Monday August 31 to Tuesday September 1

Cost is $315 USD for the Early Bird Two Day Registration which closes July 15th.

Come join us for two great days on this historic track. Opened in 1961 and host to past F1 Grand Prix races as well as the American Lemans Series.

Sponsored by, Dixie Ford, Steeda, Nitto Tires, Garmin, Tremec Transmissions, Royal Purple, Chicane23, Blevins Enterprises, SVTOA and Team Shelby

Drivers will receive approximately two hours of track time each day and if you need or want an instructor to hone your skills, one will be provided. This event is open to all makes and models so invite your friends. If this is your first time at a track event, don’t worry, Track Guys will provide you with both classroom instruction and an in car instructor to safely teach you the finer points of driving on track.

New for this year is the Track Guys Test Drive. The Track Guys Test Drive allows a person to get their feet wet on track without the usual full day or weekend commitment to see if this is something they would like to do. The Test Drive is only offered on Saturday and for the $40 registration fee participants can attend all class room meetings, ride on track with a Track Guys instructor and then drive one full session after the lunch break in your car with an instructor coaching you around the track. This is a great opportunity for spouses, friends or family members to see what this is all about. Space is limited.

SVTOA and Team Shelby members receive a special discount for attending Track Guys events. Please contact Dell Hughes at dellcobra@yahoo.com for the discount code or if you have any questions about the event.

As an added bonus sponsors Steeda and Nitto Tire have teamed up to offer two sets of 275-40-17 Nitto NT01 track tires to be raffled during the weekend. All paid participants will be entered in a raffle for a Tremec transmission to be given away at the end of the season.

Go to www.trackguys.motorsportreg.com for more information and to register now. Space is filling up fast so register now.

See You On Track.

..and if anyone's interested 3 Balls Racing is at Calabogie the Sat-Sun before. So there's potential for Calabogie/Mosport back to back

I will be there on Monday Labor Day, Sept.7.
http://www.kensairacing.com/index.php?p ... rack_event

There are 2 groups, advanced and 'intermediate'(?).

Advanced allows passing everywhere with a signal (except mid-corner).
Intermediate passing is on the start/finish straight, between 3 and 4 and on the back straight

The format is 1/2 hour on/off for each group, so there's plenty of seat time

Its CAD $350 (about U$300)

There are some folks from the Boston area going to Calabogie, and some going to Mosport. I'm actually going for both. I couldn't pass it up... Mosport is a super deal, and to see and drive two great tracks in four days is fantastic opportunity.

I expect to be completely exhausted. :)

FYI. The ALMS at Mosport is on the weekend before the event. A few of us are going up early to watch the race.

I just thought I'd let you guys know that we (me, Paddy, Clare, Mick, Joe Lu, Matt Barnes, Tommy, Raj, Troy and Mike) had a great time at Mosport. It was quite the experience. Lots of funny things overheard in the pad-DOCK.

"That Miata has some power!" followed by a '"yup" and quite a few nods
"What do you have in this thing?" about my GTi (BFG R1's, Bilstiens and a pimp ass Recaro)
"You know you don't brake for turn 8?"
"Who is Mick? I hear he has the track record."
"We're running a little behind this morning, so sorry about that." Followed by a 1 hour drivers meeting :x
"Well that BMW is a real race car..."
And my favorite, from one Mustang owner to another, "You got passed by that Golf!"

It was incredible. Two days at Calabogie, followed by two at Mosport.

I think the only thing that could have been better was if the trifecta was completed with the next two days at Tremblant.
