NHMS 3 was awesome

Post by boltonite » Mon Aug 03, 2009 6:48 am

Hats off to the folks who put on an outstanding event -- the event organizers were firing on all cylinders and managed to get over 100 COM members MAXIMUM track time both days, including a full 90 minutes of open track on Sunday after the Time Trial (which was conducted w/o a hitch! - kudos to Timing & Scoring, control, and the participants!). People were putting down some fast laps and no one balled up their car or oiled down the track, and the ops people were just outstanding at managing the flow of cars on/off the hot track.

The bar has been set for NHMS-4, I look forward to attending the barbecue, I might even bring something to cook on my grill! And some fresh tires, to keep up w/ the ST3 hot-shoes [misclassed!]

NHMS may not be my favorite track, but COM really makes it one to remember, every time.Smoothly run event, well organized and the track people are very enthusiastic about COM members.Great food saturday night and tons of clean track time. Nice to see new enthusiastic members and smiling faces. Had a great practice run with Ron in his 911 Porsche as we traded places around the track.I tried a few of his lines and they really worked for me.Pat McMahon and Lester also showed me a few secrets to speed in sections that really helped drop my times. It seems every driver has their favorite sections and if you learn those secrets, put them all together, it really shows. One of the best thing about COM is the diversity of drivers and cars and their willingness to share. Thanks to all for a superb party! (Aug. 2nd. happened to be my birthday)

Happy birthday Mark!!!

I can't think of a better way to spend it than at the track. :) Even though I sort of laid an egg on the TT...I had a very productive weekend, and picked up my pace quite a bit in the practice sessions......almost 2 full seconds better than my best at NHMS2.. Some pointers from Fast Freddy, and (insert creative nickname for Gordon here) Gordon were a big help.

Thanks, guys! One of the best things about track driving is it's all good. I was having a blast in the Atom, but my smile was no larger than the one on the driver of the white Hyundai.

I very much enjoyed my first COM event, and I was impressed by the helpfulness and generosity of fellow drivers when it came to dealing with some issues on my Miata. It was a great weekend.

Thanks so much to all who generously tried to resurrect the new-to-the-household '91 Miata. Evan, who masterfully applied his suction capabilities to the clutch cylinder, JeffW who kept us laughing at the death of a clutch, Les who sprinkled British holy water on it and walked away in disgust, Carl, who taught me something about getting the vehicle carcass OFF THE TRACK so I did not interrupt the play time, and especially Will, who taught me about the new Miata part - the clutch belt???????? :?

A great time to hang and drive with such solid people.

NHMS 4 should see the Miata restored to its rightful glory at the end of the line.

Sounds like it was a good event. I'm hoping to make it to the Sept NHMS day.

The Time Trial results for this event have been posted on the COM web site. Thanks to Mick and Mark Swinehart for getting the points tabulated and the results posted so quickly.

And thank you, Bill, for your usual hard work setting up the run groups for the time trial.

Is anyone else getting a 404 error when attempting to access the results?
