NHMS 3.....are you going?.....
First time with the club, is it similar to the Porsche or BMW club DEs?....
Point bys before passing, restricted to certain passing zones etc. etc.?
Is the licensed group different in terms of passing?
Hoping to meet some of you there......

Re: NHMS 3.....are you going?.....
Welcome to the club. If you've attended PCA or BMWCCA events, you'll find COM is very similar in terms of the DE portion of the event -- run groups, passing zones, tech inspection, etc. However, unlike BMWCCA and PCA, COM is a Time Trial club and COM events are focused on turning fast laps (safely/consistently). The passing zones and the point-bys are the same as PCA and BMWCCA, but most students are signed off to solo and participate in the Time Trial on the 2nd day; in BMWCCA or PCA it can take years to achieve "solo" status. Once you've done a COM event it is difficult to go back to regular DE events. See you at the track! -FF

Yes, we run the infield course, utilizing the north and south chicanes. NHMS only permits use of the ovals to clubs/organizations where all cars have full rollcages.

Tech forms are in with the packet you will receive when you register at the track. Standard stuff as other clubs. Always bring rainsbostondmd wrote:Is a tech. form required? If so, where do I download one?

Re: NHMS 3.....are you going?.....
Tech form is provided at the track, I don't think there is one on line.
The checklist is pretty basic, nothing on the car can be loose or rigged in place with a strap. Brake lights need to work. Brakes need to work! No leaks. Good tires. Numbers and classification displayed. Glass headlights taped.
We run rain or shine, and stop only for lightning. Some run special rain tires. Lazy people like me don't.

Re: NHMS 3.....are you going?.....
depends on the driver and the instructor. New drivers are Rarely licensed on first school day unless the driver has other experience. HOWEVER, plan on driving both days because new drivers USUALLY get "Signed Off to Solo". That means on the second day everything is just like you are licensed including the right to run the Time Trial. Only thing is, the next event for which you sign up, you will be assigned an instructor again.

One last question......
How are students and instructors matched up?
Is it based on the instructor driving a similar car?
See you Sat.

Re: NHMS 3.....are you going?.....
There are a variety of factors, and that can be one of them. More important that an instructor 'driving a similar car', is an instructor having experience with a similar car. The two are not always the same.bostondmd wrote:One last question......
