Hiking for a Cure: Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Post by jadams » Fri May 22, 2009 10:37 pm

Well, I am at it again this year! After such a successful fundraising season last year ($8,675), I have decided to again raise money toward supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. This year, we are training to hike in the Rockies Mountains in Estes Park, CO. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, but more specifically, I am doing it in honor of my mother. Last year, my mother was diagnosed with Large Defused B Cell Lymphoma. I am sure that most of you already know the story of my mom's diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. But the most important part of her story that you all may not know is that she is officially in remission at this point and is slowly recovering from all the treatments. Deep down, I know that my mom's success to this point is related to her strong will to beat this cancer. But her will to beat it was not the only factor that led her on the road to recovery. I truly believe that all of the support of people like yourselves have led to suporting research that made this possible. I thank you all for your previous support of this cause, and I truly hope that you are able to help suport this cause again this year. Please note that any amount that you can suport towards this cause will be greatly appreciated!
