Interesting technology. I wonder why they kept the cam involved on the intake side at all.

Yikes.Seems a bit too complicated to me.It's really just variable cam timing,Fiat style.
I wonder why no car manufacturer has endorsed Desmo valve operation.Seems like it works fine for Ducati

That is a great save. I remember that race with Biaggi and Rossi. Those guys had some epic battles. Max seems much more relaxed this year in his new home in World Superbike.

This piece profiles one of the mechanics for the Hubble Telescope. In his spare time he wrenches on his E30 M3.
Thought it was interesting, to me at least

Rendezvous en Paris......
On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro stabilized camera on the front of a Ferrari GTB, and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at break neck speed through the heart of Paris in the early morning. The course was from Porte Duaphine, through the Louvre to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.
No streets were closed, for LeLouch was unable to obtain a permit.
The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching speeds in excess of 140 mph in some stretches. The foot reveals him running red lights, nearly hitting pedestrians, driving the wrong way up one way streets and reducing the pigeon population of Paris!
Upon showing the film, LeLouch was arrested and the film went underground. It is a classic. Turn on the sound and enjoy. The identity of the drive was never revealed. Just imagine it is a Sunday drive with Joe Lu!
