BMW SRS and CEL reset tools..

Post by TroyV » Tue Jan 27, 2009 2:07 pm

Does anyone here have a Peake SRS reset tool that I can borrow? Also could use the check engine light reset tool. I need to do some troubleshooting, and need some time with the tools.

Thanks,

I believe AutoZone has a peak tool. I heard they read codes and reset at no charge.

I have a reset and troubleshooting tool for BMW that fits OBDII and the engine bay port for older cars. It reads some codes, resets ABS, resets check engine, and resets oil change. I don't know the brand, but I got it at Bavarian Autosport. You are welcome to use it. Unfortunately it gets alot of use around here too.

Thanks Shawn. I have used the carsoft tool, and I have used the Peake tool recently. Neither of them reset the SRS light. The error code on the Peake showed (in laymans terms) that the "data bus" was too busy to allow the tool to shake hands with the car's computer. There are several methods they suggest to get the tool to work. It would likely take me a day or two with the tool to make it happen. I have a few people that have offered, whom I already arranged to meet with. I will keep you in mind in case I have questions....seems like you have dealt with these problems a lot.

I didn't. It looks like it was lost. You can email me at tv2vgt@yahoo.com if you like.

Scott, I'll give you a call. I think the issue is just a little more complicated than a standard reset, and perhaps you can help me track it down.

Hey Scott....thanks for having your guy take a look at my car yesterday. That is a nifty little scan tool you have there.

Too bad it didn't work... ;)

LOL... it's ok Scott...I knew the answer was going to be more complicated. I'll probably just drive the car as is until the weather starts to break, then I'll give call to the guy you referred.
