CRX Racecar project for sale

Post by JackFFR1846 » Mon Jan 12, 2009 12:50 pm

I have moved on and away from working on cars all the time (guitar playing....if you must know)

So, since my CRX has sat for a year with the installation of an aluminum flywheel being my only accomplishment, I know I won't do anything on this besides push it into the garage, then push it into the trailer, then push it into the garage.....

I'm getting ready to just sell off parts separately, but wanted to offer it up here in case someone is looking for a budget racecar with serious potential. email is jackffr1846@msn.com As expected, I'll sell at a loss and I'll consider chunks, pieces or the whole shebang.....

Car is an 87 CRX-Si. Built into an SCCA ITA car by Noam Levine and raced for 6 years. I'm sure I've got the log book somewhere. I bought it about 6 years ago and ran COM prepared C but mostly just instructed in it. Rolling chassis (with your wheels) $1500.

Rather than clog up bandwidth, just go to my photobucket account

and get by all the random crap and you'll find pics of everything from the cage to the brakes to the whole car at NHIS and Lime Rock. Car has been garaged or in an enclosed trailer since I bought it. There is one spot of rust that I've ever found and it's the size of a quarter inside the inner driver rear wheel well.

Currently, the car is a rolling chassis. The original engine/tranny are gone.
I have all of the parts from 2 running, driving engines, that I've mated together to create a "poor man's type R" which is a 94 Integra VTEC 1.8L with a JDM vtec B16 head. Hand tightened bolts at this point and nothing is reassembled. Everything is still there for 2 complete engines. I drove both cars (gsr was in a swapped 92 civic and the b16 was in a swapped 91 integra that I ran at NHIS one day with SCDA to prove out the engine).

Brake system in the car is all 1st gen integra, mostly new parts, 4 wheel disk with boost removed. Carbotech XP8's all around. Koni yellow double adj all around with 500#/in rear springs and the maximum available front torsion bars (Either 27 1/2 or 29....I don't remember). Front camber plates with worn out sphrical mounts. Aluminum home made 5# hood, severely lightened hatch with plexi window. Kirkey aluminum seat with fiberglas pass seat. Belts are expired 5 points. 6 circle racing 13x7 9 pound wheels with several year old Hoosier 225-45-13's. Spares include some steels, a set of phone dials with kumho ecsta v700 rains.

Tranny for the b swap is a fully rebuilt by chang at funhondas 91 integra with a brand new quaife. I spent $2k on the rebuild/quaife/install. flywheels and clutches from GSR and B16 both still can go with it. Wiring harnesses to run either the b16 (what I would use to match most easily with the head/distributor) and from the GSR along with their computers. These came out of the running donor cars.

Car with the old D series engine wet without me in it weighed just under 1600 pounds.

Several radiators included....pick your size. Currently has the oil cooler in the lower front with braided lines and a sandwich adapter. I have a bunch of axles that I've saved to build my own axles for this swap. I also have the correct swap mounts (try to find these anymore). The rear mount would need to be acquired (99 civic SI....I'm told) or made from the box of mounts I've saved over the years (box is about 2 feet by 2 feet by 3 feet and full). Any other parts I have can be included or acquired separately. spindles, mirrors etc.

Take everything for $5k or ask about anything specific that you want.

Trades for things I can use on my 08 Subaru Legacy GT or anything guitar related will be considered.

Car is in Hopkinton, MA on a 4 post lift....so you can look it all over.
