Wheel question

Post by rajito » Sat Nov 15, 2008 6:59 pm

Here's the SS rule for wheels:
1. Any type wheel may be used provided wheel size (width and diameter) remain stock. Wheel offset may be +/- 5mm from stock. Cars delivered with 12 inch wheels may use aftermarket 13 inch wheels with a maximum width of 5 inches that fit within stock fenders. Cars delivered with wheels greater than 17 inches in diameter may use wheels that are 17 inches in diameter, provided they are the stock width.
I have a 2004 350Z that came with 18x8f and 18x8.5r wheels.

In 2006, Nissan offered bling bling 18x9f and 19x10r wheels.

If I wanted to stick to a 17" wheel, what are my options? Check all that apply:

[ ] Only 17x8f and 17x8.5r
[ ] Only 17x9f and 17x10r
[ ] Any size between 17x8 and 17x9 for front, and between 17x8.5 and 17x10 rear

Spanks!

Sorry dude, but the +/-5mm offset does not change the stock width requirement.

Oh it's not even the offset I'm looking at, as much as the definition of "stock". This is a situation where the exact same car was available two years later with bigger wheels, stock (i.e., not an option). Does the fact that I have an 04 prevent me from using the bigger 06 rims (and shrinking them to 17" as allowed by the rule)?

Obviously I'm trying to put more rubber down, but if I'm stuck with the skinny wheels, that's what I'll use :)

If you have an '04, stock width means '04 stock width. (duh!)

You want an '06 engine, too?!

Well that was gonna be my next question. Can I drop the upcoming 370Z motor in and stay in SS? ;)

There's better places to put a 370Z motor. Like in my 240Z!
