i don't under stand what the big deal is ? tape letters and numbers look like crap !and as for 2 little stickers . take it from a body man it will not do a dam thing to paint ! unless macco painted your car ! if peaple are concerned about the cost of replacing stickers for evey track day then get a roll of con-tact paper and stick the sticker on the con-tact paper and after the day at the track stick it to a peace of wax paper untill the next track day. then peal it off the wax paper and stick it back on the car the next time your at the track . or just use magnetic backers ! there are some clubs that don't let you use tape for your letters and numbers and make you put the clubs name on the cars . and as for not being crazy about more tape . that just tells me that you think tape looks like hell too ! i think at this point next year i will start selling digital numbers and letters out of con-tact paper for cost to club members . there is no sticky mess after you remove them and they peal right off .

Ya, I like the idea, and the bigger the better......to cover the dents! As you will surely do that to your car when hustling along at break neck speeds. If you haven't dented it yet, try harder!
As you all know I need some BIG stickers!

off topic . Sam . are you the owner of the speed 3 ? hell ! i will do the body repair and paint on you car for cost . i do love the speed 3's i would get one if mazda offerd one in a 2 door hatch . as most peaple know newman was part owner of a volvo mazda dealer . when the speed 3 first came out we took one to the parking lot next to the dealership . and put it thru its paces. O what run that was !!! now back to the topic at hand . i can make the numbers any size . the cost should be about 25 bucks a car ? but i will have to do the math and see ?

Thanks David, PM sent.
Mark, those are nice com emblems but are not the "official" version. Yours are missing the Corvette. Gotta get that Corvette on there!

this is exactly why i proposed a rule change for all cars, at minimum, running the time trials to be required to have 2 decals either right/left side or front/back.
Come on guys, no one should be required to have to put additional stickers on their car. Numbers are there for control, and class letters are for tech. We are a private club; with no sponsors, no spectators, no press, and no one in the grandstands.

Exactly. We're not IMSA, and we're not SCCA. Since we seem to be agreed that people should be able to take the stickers off when they're not at the track, who is ever going to see the stickers? Only the people at the track, namely, us, so what's the point?

I'm all for spreading the word about COM, and if people want to have COM stickers on their car when away from the track to do that, I say great. But requiring them while on the track would do exactly nothing to publicize the club.

My point was that if people take the stickers off when they're not at the track, then the only people who ever see the stickers are already at the track with COM. So how does the club benefit from that?

I agree with you that there is no harm in doing it, just as there would be no harm in requiring everyone to put polka dots on their cars either, which would be equally pointless.

By all means encourage everyone to display COM stickers whereever they want. (I have my own that I display proudly on my hardtop.) But making it a requirement to run in a time trial is a rule that IMHO would accomplish nothing.

I concur. I have been a fairly sticker happy guy, but I don't really want to put on a sticker on my car just to run with a particular club.

If the rule does pass, I would just have a magnetic decal on for track days, but as mentioned above, what would be the point if it's only displayed at COM events?

It seems like there would be alot more COM stickers on cars without any requirements if they were readily available. I would have them on my car and tow vehicle if I had some.

i think alot of peaple are not looking at the bigger pitcher . promoting has to do with more than just some stickers . but its a start . at what point did nasa and scca start making there competitors start having to display there names ? when they are as big as they are now or when they were just a little club ? when i go to a ferrari club track day we all have real numbers . no tape . the only peaple that go are competitors . there are alot of ways to promot this club to become alot bigger .but if we as members sit on our hands and piss and moan about a little thing like a sticker. then it will just stagnate and never get bigger and better . at this point in time almost all the club members are from northern new england . and just a hand full from ct. is there any one in the club living farther south than me ? i don't think so ? if comscc does this rule change how many peaple do you think would say the hell with it and leave the com sticker on the car all the time ? half the peaple ? will thats more than none at all .

COM stickers on street cars are like gang signs. As cool as the sticker may look, it is meaningless unless the viewer already knows what it represents. At that point, there isn't much advertising going on. You either see the sticker and relate to it, or you see the sticker and it means nothing to you.

That said, I don't believe that members' cars have to display club decals to show their support for the club. On the other hand, I do not have to display the American flag on my car to show that I support my country. I fly the American flag because I'm proud of it.

I feel club decals are great advertisement in photos and video. THAT is the reason to display the logo while on-track.

We are becoming more of a YouTube, Vimeo, Picasa, and blogger world every day. People love to take pictures and video of what interests them and share it with the world. The people that search out these videos and pictures are very likely to be interested in track events, so advertising the club to them would be a good thing.

Anyone who wants to fly the COMSCC logo or website should be encouraged to do so! This topic has been submitted as a rule change and will be discussed at the November (and possibly December) COMSCC monthly meeting. Should this pass, magnetic signs would surely be allowed. I am on the fence about the subject, and would appreciate more member feedback.
