nhms oct 25 vid

Post by jakesrodshop » Mon Nov 03, 2008 2:52 pm

guys here s avid from saturday oct 25, me driving with les seal as instructor.

heres my slow jk 1:21 laps from time trials on 10/26, from the video and instructing i ran a 1:18.4 this week(the video helped a ton, i saw where i was coasting, and where i needed more throttle, i was running 105-110 between 12-1 and this week i was running 120-125, also between 2b-3 i got to 5800 rpms in 3rd where as this week i hit rev limter at 6800 because i was on throttle so much earlier and my car turns and takes throttle well, i also went much deeper into 6, over thru 8 and 9 and get on throttle at the turtle in 10, it amazing how just a few seconds seem so much faster.)
thanks for the instruction les and mark and thanks for a great group of guys to run the track with. the open track at the end of the day sunday was incredible, i am so glad i drove home fixed the car and got back to the track sunday morning, those 20 laps to end the day was like christmas, i just didnt want to come in.

thanks guys, can we just skip winter???

Guess you have to post vid on a server and then use the URL insert button on this site. No biggie, since you can just cut an paste the url into a browser address window to view it.

thanks guys, its really fun learning from guys who know how to drive.
the way the susp works is very gratifying and just proves that a well thought out plan, computer design(win geo, solid works) we got exactely what we designed, and it was able to be tuned quickly, now i just need to get faster as a driver, i know theres at least 1 sec left in these tires if not more.
heres a run down of the front clip specs

61.5 track width(hub to hub)
.85º neg camber gain per inch of travel
7.5 caster built in(no offset shims to get caster)
107 instant center
.815 roll center
.616 scrub radius
.776 motion ration on coil overs(could be more but it is a street car and can only fit a 5 inch shock)
15-1 modified fox body rack and pinion
custom drop steering arms
.009 bump steer in 3 inches of compression(bump out, it keeps car stable during cornering, bump in will make car darty)
c6 z06 control arms,knuckle, bearing pack
rear susp
is a tq arm, with a 54 inch tq arm, 28 inch outer links, 36 inch phb(going to a watts link this winter), ford 9 inch, big bearing ends, 31 spline axles, lsd 3.90 gears
both front and rear susp have custom valved bilstein shocks that are 6 way adjustable, both rebound and compression , high and low speed
car specs
450 hp dry sump ls6 fuel injected, t-56 6 speed tranny with steel shift forks, syncros etc,9 inch rear, aluminum mark williams 3rd member with the daytona pinion bearing 3.90 gears, ccw wheels 18x10 front with 275/35/18 and 18x11.5 with 335/30/18 toyo r888 tires

man i hate winter...
