Hey everyone, it was sure great seeing you all last weekend, even if the first words out of most peoples' mouths were "Where's Tina and the boys?" Not, "Hey Mike -- good to see you"...
It was sad watching my car go around the track without me in it, but it's got a great new owner. Hopefully he can do a better job than me of driving it to its potential and beat that pesky Honda (no names...).
I look forward to coming up to NHMS and watching events in the future. COM is a great club.
Great seeing everyone last Saturday!

Mike:
It's OK to take the family van and put on the track every now and then.
Great seeing you there. Hope to see you more even if you are not racing.
Cheers,
Stephan

When did you change your signature line? I assume after you set the NHMS track record!!!

I had a great time as well this weekend! Unfortuneatly, it's was only my second event of the year... day 3 and 4. My only other event was in June with Patroon BMWCCA at WGI. I assure you the car has been basically in pieces since Dec and was put together in the three weekends leading up to WGI only to be teared down again for the roll cage install. So, the last two weekends before NHMS was another shuffle putting the car back together. Big THANKS to Tom Hansen, Jesse Clark and my dad, Nick, for helping me all year long.
it's pretty clear from his face that Pappie Swinehart enjoyed the fruits of our labor.
It's a building year, might be an understatment considering I live in NYC and the car sits in Halfmoon, NY about 2:30 hours away. ugh...
All in all, here's the laundry list of stuff that updated/changed:
- car interior was stripped all the padding, headliner, center console and sunroof removed, only the OE dashboard and instruments were retained
- Sunroof covered and riverted with 99 rivets!
- All new Honda OEM bearings, ball joints, upper control arms, tie-rod ends, axles and lug bolts (arp) were installed
- Knuckles were sandblasted and clear coated
- New Chris Howard roll cage, scotch brited, primered and painted.
- new SFI roll cage padding
- Repaired SMS-P exhuast header
- Installed new tunnel dump exhuast w/ 22" resonator (LOUD!!!!)
- Momo Daytona seat and sabelt 6-pt harness
- Front tow-hook
- Professional head work limited to all new OE valves, seals, springs; .015 head shaving, 1" mild porting both on i/e and factory spec 3-angle valve job
- Jackson racing plastic IM gasket
- Double thick racing radiator (generic)
- ACT 6-puck clutch
- steel braided clutch lines
Still left to do:
Engine - full re-tune
Exhuast - needs another resonator...(do you think?)
Interior - kill switch, VDO gauges, 2.5 lb Halon bottle, additonal seat/harness, more roll cage padding, AMB transponders, Hotlapper
Exterior - Road Race Gear front airdam http://roadracegear.com/its101.asp and new vinyl numbers
Suspenion - 850/550 ERS springs, spherical bearings?
Transmission - M-factory 4.9 FD
I think my TT times were slower than my open track times. Though I was happy to run mid 1:23's in the TT, someone mentioned high 1:21's during open track. All in all I think SPC/PC will be interesting next year. And from Gordon tells me, SCCA ITA may not be worth the effort - we'll see. I need to do some homework on NASA honda challenge in the Northeast!
PS. If I didn't give someone a point quickly enough, please let me know. I felt rusty as a driver this weekend and it felt REALLY good to shake off the cobb webs and hit the track for some "spirinted" open laps with rest of you. Mickey is happy!
