Noise requirements at various tracks and a black flag

Post by breakaway500 » Sat Oct 11, 2008 6:42 pm

If you are black flagged for a noise violation at a track,do you have the option to "fix" the problem,or are you all done for the event? What if you fail a second time?

Generally, you will get 1 attempt to correct the problem. A second black flag will be the end of the day.

Do the individual tracks decide this policy of repair and/or banishment?

I'm just not sure about the Atoms exhaust,as the factory muffler was crap, and I haven't tested the replacement Hushpower that is now on the car. It's a direct fit experimental from Flowmaster.Really. it's quieter than the stock muffler, but not...quiet.

I don't own a db meter. Wonder how much they cost?

Found one.Digital certified for $75 bucks.Guess it's worth having one.

Usually Sound is determined and measured by the track.

At Mont Tremblant they measured in 3 different spots. One of them was the Green Jeep Cherokee. I was told there if you break sound you were done for that run group -- if it happened again --done for the day.

A LRP Mike G has said if his window rattles he measures --but when Skip has been there it has been tougher. LRP usually gives you one chance to quiet it down then you are done.

At Calabogie --you get measured before you go out --and if you break sound--they ask to bring the car in. They seem to be a little flexible on how long you get to fix it.

I have found the weather plays a big role. If it is a cold and crisp day --more cars fail. Hot and humid --less fail.

Thanks, thats the feedback I was looking for. I fitted a 5" disc Supertrapp adjustable unit on the end of the muffler outlet just in case I need it. I can run with no discs and add the pack if needed.
